McFarlane DC Multiverse

Well, we don't try to keep it separate. You have even commented, just last week, on another discussion how conversations taking detours is all part of the fun and experience.

So, it's all good...until it's something that you don't want to talk about? Come on. That's just a double standard here.

And also, you don't care about "your" politics? It's OUR politics. Politics are killing us right now. Politics are destroying our economy, destroying our way of life, destroying this hobby. And you're living in it and being affected, too. So, yeah...it is going to bleed into every facet of the conversation, and oopsies...you're going to hear about it.

And again, it is related. If the things we are discussing are being impacted by external factors, we are going to talk about it where the conversation takes place.

You can't have it both ways, man. You're either good with these detours, or not. You don't like it? Then skim past it. No one here is holding a gun to your head.

I want to discuss toys.
Then go right ahead.

No one’s stopping you.

Here, I’ll get it going:

So I have had a problem with the Batman Incorporated figure where just moving his head around totally pops the “collar” off its glue, which is really annoying. However, that motivated me to pop the Incorporated head off and try it on the JLA “all black” body and on the black/grey Hush body, and it looks amazing on both, far better than the original heads (well, the Hush is a wash, both great sculpts but the Incorporated head makes for a more “vanilla” 2000s Batman as opposed to story-specific). The black Hush head looks great on the Incorporated body, I’m going to see if I can glue the collar back down and if maybe that head won’t bother it as much.

Quite a bit of product coming up this month. Unfortunately, no new DCM so far except Static.

Upcoming preorders:

Superman resin statue tomorrow.

Spawn resin statue Wednesday.

More of Todd’s Mods for Thursday. Cyborg has been shown.

TMNT wave 2 on 12/16/25.

Well, we are on a message board for toys. Politics really doesn’t need to be brought into it.
You might want to explore the board a bit, we discuss politics quite a bit here. Daily, in fact. It's part of the community now, we can't even discuss prices without discussing tariffs and, thus, politics.

We didn't bring politics to the toy community, Great Leader did that when he raised tariffs and said Billy and Bonnie or whomever can just have 2 dolls for Christmas and suck it up.

Living in reality. On a toy discussion forum. Super serious stuff.

Don't do that. Don't belittle what we are ALL into just to try and make your point about toys vs politics.

Reducing our collections to "super serious stuff" is a cop-out, it's petulant, and it's a sign of a weak argument. It's a bullshit response, and you should feel feel bad for saying it.

Frankly, I share the general frustration with politics invading every area of our lives. It fucking sucks.
However, it is foolish and counterproductive (and futile) to try to “ignore” or “ban” political discourse when it is relevant to an issue being discussed.

I submit that if one wants politics to stop being relevant to many/most conversations these days, one should work to dismantle and defeat the current trends toward fascism and extremism in our government and overall sociocultural matrix. That’s really the only way we can eliminate the need to speak on such issues, and ultimately: “politics” (by which we usually mean the general sociocultural/economic issues that constantly surround us irrespective of the “political climate”) are functionally unavoidable in discourse. Hell, we are here in a subforum specifically discussing DC Comics action figures, and as anyone who has been paying attention since 1938 knows, DC Comics characters were political creations then and remain political creations now. You can not like that, I suppose, but that’s the name of the game.

As always, folks are welcome to ignore/scroll by/opt not to engage with content they find challenging or offensive or whatever. I cannot force folks to engage with necessary political discourse, but I certainly won’t suppress or penalize said discourse. And that part I am *absolutely* saying as a moderator.

This board has a culture, much of which is being built intentionally. The vibe may not be for everyone, and that is OK. As always, please report any actual breaches of rules or ethics.

Sooooo I am really excited for Professor Pyg!! One thing I will say for Todd, McF has certainly built a strong roster of Bat-villains.

It's the same as the yahoos who bitch about Marvel being too woke now. Marvel. Too woke. NOW.

Mothafuckas, WHAT??

Tell me you don't know the history of the X-Men without telling me that you don't know the history of the X-Men.

Almost every single thing we love has their toe in the political pool. To deny that is to deny, YES, *reality*.

I think calling what is going in the U.S. right now mere politics diminishes the severity of what we are facing. The loss of civil rights, the dehumanizing of people who are different, and so much more that it is painful to think about.

I would love to just pretend it all isn’t happening and play with my toys, but it is impacting every facet of our lives. It is impossible to ignore the impact it is directly having on our hobby with across the board price increases and layoffs, and every other industry is dealing with the same.

Now we have the prospect that Skydance/Paramount, who is firmly in the camp of the regime that is dismantling our freedoms, would take over WB and own these characters that I have loved my entire life, and that is heartbreaking. Sorry, but I don’t want to see Batman going after “illegals” or Superman blowing up ships in the middle of the sea. I don’t want these people anywhere near these characters.

So yeah, it is sometimes hard to talk about this hobby or these characters in a meaningful way without acknowledging the threats they are facing, which is just a microcosm of the reality we’d all like to pretend isn’t happening, but it is.

Bingo.

And that’s why diminishing this to “‘your’ politics” is so disappointing and frustrating, as is attempting to create a facade of “ohhh I don’t talk about politics” while literally participating in political discourse.

The wolf is at the fucking door, folks. Not one single one of us has the luxury of ignoring that, and those who try will have a sober reckoning to make when said wolf’s jaws are yanking their guts out through a chewed hole. There’s no escape from this reality, certainly not through just talking toys.

Superman wouldn’t downplay this. Batman sure as shit wouldn’t sit on the sidelines. Wonder Woman’s sword would already be wet.

You know who would tell us to “just talk toys” while evil men are trying to dismantle the literal wellspring of the characters these toys are made of? Lex fucking Luthor. Gonna listen to him?

🤷‍♂️

There's many reasons that this is the only toy forum on the internet that I'm a member of, but the main reason is that the vast majority of people here are smart, empathetic and hilarious motherfuckers. I wish more of the world was like this site.

I find it's actually a salve to the bitter reality we all live in, and a big part of that comfort comes from the recognition and acknowledgement of what makes said reality so fucked up. The fact that we don't shy away from it and instead face it head on, sometimes with the grace of humor to ease our pain, sometimes with blunt language to reflect the necessary truths of our socio-political climate, but always empathetically, always with our shared humanity in mind, is what makes it easier to face the bullshit even in a toy forum. I'm thankful every day for this forum for being a part of what keeps me from feeling like I'm losing my mind.

On another note, I got Doctor Mid-Nite from Amazon yesterday, which I totally forgot was coming this month. He's pretty cool, though I wish Hooty was sculpted more dynamically with full wings spread or something. He's a pain in the ass to get to perch on Mid-Nite's arm, too. Also, would it have killed Todd to just slip some wire into the cape's hem? Guess I'll just do it myself with floral wire or something but, c'mon, this guy was almost 40 bucks after tax.

Heheh yeah the “will they or won’t they wire the capes” thing right now is quite frustrating. I just wish they would be consistent.

Then there's guys like me that absolutely hate soft goods so wish they wouldn't do them at all.

I picked up both versions of Dr. Mid-Nite but it's annoying how little effort that McF put in to differentiate between the platinum and the standard release. I've got them both in my hands right now. It's literally the exact same figure with colors instead of anything unique whatsoever with the costumes. Same guy's face with no attempt at differentiation. I believe that it was the same with Mirror Master even though in both cases they're supposed to be two totally different individuals.

If it's NOT soft goods on a character I want, I will usually MAKE IT soft goods with a custom cape from someone. I've done it with at least 3 Batman and 2 Superman figures.

I do prefer fabric over plastic. Pretty neutral on wired or unwired. Both have advantages and both have drawbacks. Not holding my breath, but I’d like to see do-overs on Hourman and Mr. Miracle.

Jayger 101 has some intel indicating a lot of previously released Batman figures will get fabric cape rereleases.
