G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

More Royal Guard musings:

The scarred Cobra-Lavian looks like Dave Bautista in makeup. Smiley Cobra-Lavian looks like Willem Dafoe in makeup.

This pleases me. And adds to how I’m head-canoning their personalities.

That's funny, I have zero interest in displaying RGs with the unmasked heads at all. To me, they're all inhuman under there, much moreso than the heads they provided. I didn't realize how BIG these guys are either. They're nearly as big as Nemesis Enforcer, much bigger than Cobra Commander, who's only just a bit slimmer than the average Classified figure. This is a formidable set of warriors. Like Uruk-Hai.

Got my two Royal Guards from Pulse today. Fuck it, I want like, FOUR. Did I immediately use an errand S. sent me on to go see if they were in stock at my local Target? YES. I love that you can make like, a dung beetle beast of a tank one, a more standard issue soldier, sor of create a commander look... it's bug man barbie. I love it. I'm almost glad I only got two and can't find a third.

Random revelation from NECA thread,.but McCoy in Streets of Fire had to be an inspo for Courtney Cover Girl Krieger, yeah?

"What's your spec?"
"Motor pool, nothin' fancy but if it's got wheels then I can drive it and I can fix it."

I doubt it. Covergirl debuted in 1983 and Streets of Fire came out in 1984. So unless there is a behind the scenes connection somewhere it is more than likely just a coincidence about the dialogue.

Hey that is only one small dent in an otherwise great movie. Willem Dafoe as the villain? Check. Great music? Check. Cool/unique style for the art direction of the movie blending 50s and 80s aesthetics? Check.

See? Still a classic.
