@TheSameIdiot

Hasn't that already occurred?
Sort've. We still operate like Supreme Court rulings actually mean something. They 'gave' Trump essentially the power of a King and we all just SAID 'well, he's a king now' instead of, you know, hanging the Supreme Court outside their very office of power for the world to see what we do with corrupt traitors.

Also let's not forget Thomas coming out and saying nothing is settled law and basically precedents don't matter anymore. The idea that this Supreme Court will rule against Trump in more than 25% of the cases brought before them is wishful thinking. The conservative justices are basically running the Heritage Foundation's plan and nowhere is there going to be some cosplay of the Supreme Court being impartial.

They will rule against Trump et al on small stuff, but the big stuff will just be rubber stamped.

Ruling against Trump on anything, or speaking out against anything he does, is just for effect. It's part of the show. It's so people can say "SEE, they're being totally fair!"
And, as the Mother Jones piece said, it keeps things somewhat normal. SCOTUS has a lot more legitimacy in the United States, failing global power, than the United States, where people burn money for heat.

They cannot risk alerting the normies to the urgency of our situation. The longer the normies are blissfully unaware, the longer the conservative project to make Donald Trump king can continue unimpeded.

So he sucks and eats McD daily. Failing a pact with Satan, he's gonna die.

What is their long term plan? It can't be Vance. Miller? How do they keep it all stapled and gluesticked together without their diva?
I have been, and still am (mostly) in that same camp of Trump being the glue that holds it together. Without him it will fall apart.

However I am slowly coming around to the idea that the longer they can keep pushing the limits of their power grab, the less Trump will be a factor in how things are run. They are creating a system where the leader is less and less important for the actual operations/power of the state and more about being a figurehead that keeps the messaging on track.

The one good thing is that data has shown that when Trump isn't on the ballot turnout drops significantly. So the midterms are not a good time for the Republicans. However as has been posted here, and reported in the wider media, they have control of a lot of election infrastructure and keep grabbing more. So it may get to a point where Trump is no longer a big factor in elections outside of being a mouthpiece because they have set themselves up to not lose.
