Super 7 Ultimates Thread

I bought all of the Diamond Invincible figures from the Amazon series and am looking forward to Jada's offering, but this is another option. I generally only buy Super7 on deep discount from BBTS though. I did buy Kull from Amazon but that's it. Regardless I don't expect to have any new Invincible figures actually in hand from either company for a very long time.
 
Well this is out of left field. I guess they are hoping Jada ends up like Diamond and only does a superficial release leaving the deep dive open to Super7. Which admittedly they are good at doing. However I haven't picked up a single Invincible figure yet and don't plan to anytime soon, and I love the comic and show.

That would be a WILD hope considering Jada's Street Fighter line was BUILT on 'we're going to do the entire game' and then they did it.

Not really. Street Fighter has had a good bit of success over the years when it comes to action figures, even going all the way back to ARAH. On top of that the brand is apparently strong enough to have two lines of similar offerings going at the same time. So going deep on the brand is not surprising to me, especially for Jada.

Invincible so far hasn't had much success with action figures. One wave of Minimates and what? 5 figures from Diamond? Oh and about 10 minifigs from some company called PhatMojo. Granted Diamond's money problems probably hurt the line and Jada has shown themselves to be miles better. I think Invincible has a great, large, cast of characters to draw from so I don't imagine it will be hard for Jada to go deep. It is more about is there enough support to get it past a couple of waves when only 1 company has done more than 5 characters to date (I think there is).

Also while I can see Super7 going with deep cut characters right out of the gate I don't think they are a good fit overall, mostly because of pricing and quality of their offerings. They work better when they are pretty much the only game in town and having Jada making what are better figures won't be good for them.

I'd love to add to add to that, but am not necessarily interested in starting over or buying a very different type of figure.

Street Fighter hasn't had tons of success as action figure lines. That's why Jada promising to do the whole roster was such a big deal. And that's kind of my point here; if Super7 was banking on Jada not being the kind of company that would commit to a roster, when Jada's FIRST foray into action figures ended with 'we did the entire roster' - then everyone at Super7 is even stupider than I thought.
 
I have absolutely no clue what Super 7 was hoping for here, but I'm not surprised that they're, as always, incredibly stupid. Either they completely innovate and make something that can actually compete with Jada, or they die within 2 waves. Even if they did "comic style" figures, they would absolutely not be different enough from the animation style Jada figures to justify $40 extra. (Assuming these are $65 like the Tigersharks)

SPeaking of, I would totally buy those Tigersharks figures if they weren't $65 dollars and had actual variants for their non-transformed looks rather than just alternate heads. Oh well!

Like I don’t know shit about how contracts work, but I do know just because you show something doesn’t mean it’s getting released and I know you can be working on something and have the license taken away (perfect example: Super7 and Simpsons/Disney)

It’s entirely possible Super7 realizing they need something that doesn’t appeal exclusively to the youngest boomer/gen x/very very elder millennial market made a big offer for Invincible and SkyBound/Amazon/who the fuck ever said “yeah, sorry Jada, we got a better offer!”

Like, Invincible doesn’t seem like a license that can support a 6 inch and 7 inch toy slicensing deal, it ain’t KPop Demon Hunters or Ninja Turtles. “The Boys” only last three figures at retail, it’s the same Network as Invincible, and it has the benefit of being live action so more people are likely to watch it. (“Well the Mafex…”, yeah you can see how that doesn’t disprove my point, people bought 6 inch The Boys figures and had no interest in 7)
 
So... I am very interested in the Jada Invincible line to live next to my Marvel Legends figures, but I'm less stoked that they are avoiding duplicating the Diamond line - since I didn't buy those figures because I don't like them.

That said I will absolutely keep ane eye on the Super7 figures as there are character designs that will mesh well with my existing Ultimates/Classics collection. And they said there would be Ultimates AND Deluxe offerings, so there should be some $35ish price offerings at retail in addition to the specialty line with all of the accessories.

I don't think that's at all likely. I'm not a contract expert, but so far as I am aware there has to be pretty drastic extenuating circumstances to be able to pull out of a contract like that. I mean, there's basically no point in signing legally enforceable contracts if one of the parties can go 'lol, nm nerd.'

I mean isn’t that what Disney did to Super7?

“Fine! We’ll do basic family members starting in wave 5 and finally make Marge and Lisa!”
“LOL! Get wrecked, dorks!” (Rips the license out of their hand and hands to Jaks… Jazware? I honestly don’t give a shit and it doesn’t matter)

Although, double checking you’re probably absolutely right Jada’s fine… they announced the license in 2025 and there’s no way in Hell Amazon/Skybound whoever expected product out in 6 months before stripping the license anyway, unless Jada had been quietly sitting on the license for like three years not producing anything in secret.

I wouldn't sweat this too much. I believe it's less a "We will NEVER do these characters" and more so that they're starting where DST left off to avoid immediate redundancy. They'd be stupid not to do Omni-Man, Atom Eve, etc and I think they know this, I'd be surprised if we don't see some overlap with DST in the next wave.
