Super 7 TMNT figures

Yeah, if I ever find him on sale really cheap (very unlikely in UK) that may have to happen for those sai.

I think the ReAction+ figures with the o-rings look fun but they’re $25 a piece!

I got the '03 Shredder in last week as I decided to keep my preorder with BBTS knowing full well that this will likely be $40 or lower in about six months. In short, pretty typical Super7 experience where the sculpt is there but the execution is lacking. The feel is cheap as there's still an abundance of soft plastic everywhere like with the turtles only Shredder's less bulky proportions mean he won't be as susceptible to gouging when moving his limbs. His range is actually pretty good. I know this is a bit of faint praise, but he's one of the best articulated Shredder figures I've encountered from any company. The lack of paint sucks though as the flat, muted, colors just don't translate the show into plastic well at all. Plus, his colors are just plain wrong. I never really noticed until I had the figure in hand and started looking at the show itself. His helm shouldn't be black, nor should the skirt. I don't know what Super7 was doing here. I also hate the little curve they added to the crest on the helm which appears to be entirely a Super7 flourish. I don't hate the figure as it does cast a fairly intimidating presence, but it certainly doesn't elevate the brand or anything. He's just a little better than the turtles and may be the last figure I get from this line because there's no way in hell I'm paying $65 for a Super7 figure (okay, if they do manage to solicit Heavy Metal Raph I'll likely hold my nose and preorder that, but that's it).

And what he's supposed to look like:

My wave 2 arrived this week so finally got them open. On the negative side, yes the plastic does feel gummy/cheap compared with other figures in this price range and they definitely need some paint for flesh tones. On the plus side I had no QC issues with this wave and no stiff joints. Made a nice to change to not feel like I was risking breaking the figure just posing it or switching out heads/hands.

Nice to finally have some more characters to flesh out the 2003 display. Looking forward to April and Hun now. If that's the end at least it will feel like a relatively complete season 1 collection (minus Baxter).

What’s the deal with the Karai that came out for the Ultimates line? Where is that look supposed to come from?

I think they made it up. They were going for a "Karai if she existed in the Playmates line."

Interesting. Wonder if that makes her a good guy or bad guy in the Playmates universe (which seemed to consider some characters good guys who were bad guys in the cartoon).

With any luck there will be quite a few more chances to get it right since Shredder had at least 5 different sets of armor between Seasons 1-7. And my personal favorite look is Seasons 2, 3 and Turtles Forever

Interesting. Wonder if that makes her a good guy or bad guy in the Playmates universe (which seemed to consider some characters good guys who were bad guys in the cartoon).

Pretty par for the course given that this is Karai’s basic character arc across all media

This. Looks like they went for her Mirage look as the starting point (which fits as that would be the only source material back then apart from Tournament Fighters), tweaked the colours and added a bit of their own spin as Playmates did back in the day.

There's probably a bio on the box establishing their version of canon, but it's also a toy to do with as one pleases.

Yeah, it’s the basic story of her arc in multiple universes.

Trying to figure out which group she’ll look better with.

I would argue she fits best in the villains shelf. In a Mirage or 2012 display she'd definitely be best with the heroes, but for something skewed closer to the 87 cartoon and Playmates, she would probably be best off next to the villains.

The description focuses almost exclusively on the femme fatale angle. We'd almost always put Catwoman figures with the Rogues' Gallery, rather than the Batfam.

Her color palette is so boring for a Playmates homage. They really needed to put something unexpected in her design, but I think they mostly just wanted her and April to share a lot of tools. It's almost like the assignment was, "Let's design a Playmates figure that would have peg-warmed.

Be that as it may, she is my stand in for Karai on the 2003 display even though the costumes aren’t the same
