Star Wars Movie and Streaming Series Discussion

I believe I still have VHS and laserdisc of the original trilogy in original form, and I *think* I have the DVDs that have the original cuts as features. My a/v setup is totally decayed but I’m getting it fixed up shortly so maybe I can watch them.

Part of me is expecting them to hold this cut of the movie hostage for another couple years past the theatrical release. Or, at the very least, relegate it to Disney+, which, by that time, will probably cost like $50 for a base subscription. Why give it to the people when you can keep charging money that you know the nerds will pay?

Arrr, Matey.

I forgot which one I got, but I did finally get the really sweet bluray set an incredibly talented fan did for the OT after tracking down several prints and cleaning them up, along with the sound. The work he did was even better than LFL's 4K versions, but also the original theatrical cuts.

I think it was this guy, but he's also doing his own 'special editions' that are pretty cool.

It's interesting watching old movies get upgraded and which ones are done right and which ones are done cheap. Gate weave - a term I just learned from pausing that SW clip and reading the notes :) - being left in drives me nuts especially in digital because it gets magnified. Is that a painstaking process to fix? ABSOLUTELY.

They didn't fix all of it in the new theatrical version of Kill Bill and it was distracting. They did some kind of digital stabilization on some shots - a lot of Uma - which just added distraction in a different way because she blurs randomly as a compensation of the effect. Not a lot, but enough.

Oooooooo... I didn't realize FOTOR wasn't MMO. I adored KOTOR. I kind of hope the action is still pause/turn based. My mind is slower these days. I can't keep up with all the bleeps and blorps.
