Rise of Skywalker is the edging of Star Wars movies. They kept coming so close to doing something cool, then chickened out.
"Good lord! Rey killed Chewbacca with her uncontrolled power! What a powerful moment that really drives home her- oh, nevermind."
"Aww, C3P0 let his memory be wiped for the sake of saving his friends. The cowardly droid died a hero- backup disk?"
I don't know if a lot of people agree with me, but I thought Han and Luke's deaths in the previous movies were affective and well-done. The heroes of the orig trig died in meaningful ways. Until you get to RoS and they just kind of don't.
I can't think of one thing I like about it. Not a scene or anything.
I thought Han's ghost-visit with his son was really good. You have to accept that just anybody can become one with the force, but the scene itself is really good.
And yeah, Babu Frik. That's all I got, though.
Now, I've reread the description of Adam Driver's sequel pitch a few times here and elsewhere, just to make sure I'm understanding it right, and I'm still baffled why everybody is all "Disney was crazy for not making this." Kylo Ren is one of my top favoritest Star Wars characters from any era, and I cannot see any kind of appeal in it.
A Knights of Ren sequel-prequel movie? Hell yeah. But a 'let's just say he's still alive' fanfic movie? -the Hell?
