Spider-Man Retro 2026 Wave with Cardiac, Owl & Hypno Hustler

Owl's brown coat underlay looks to be Doc Ock's. The overcoat is new, as far as I can tell.

I feel you on the variant cover look becoming THE action figure look. That really sucks.

Jesse's on Facebook and follows several Legends pages like Marvel Legends Collectors. He's also on Insta and X/Twitter.

Idk if someone else answered this already, but the Peter Parker head 100% has symbiote goop up the right side of his head.

Also, pretty sure the Owl had a literal pet owl in his first appearance.

That is correct. The Owl first appeared in Daredevil #3 in 1964. He was created by Stan Lee and Joe Orlando. He did indeed have a pet owl and his house was even shaped like an owl.

I never really understood that. Isn't that like a dead giveaway to the good guys? Silly villains.

I do think of Owl with the tie/cravat/whatever it is more than this scarf but this is close enough for me. Still, I really am baffled why they do pick certain artwork to base figures on at times.

In any case, really only a Gladiator figure away from me being pretty content with a DD villain shelf. (I'd take a Mister Fear as well, maybe Jester, but Gladiator is the one I would like the most)

If this gets us a true Mastermind I will be quite happy.

The figure is basically how I picture Owl in my head.
He's pretty beardless in the vast majority of his modern and classic appearances as far as I know, so that bothers me a little bit. And this version looks more like he lives in the sewers than a giant owl-shaped lair on a mountaintop. But I don't have a strong enough vision of the character in my head to really nitpick it.

I get the impression that someone in the chain of command has a low opinion of more classic designs and pushes for modern interpretations of such characters. Whether that person is at Hasbro or Marvel is anyone’s guess.

Yeah, I’m going to treat this as a classic Owl. He doesn’t really have an iconic look to me. Just like a kind of husky guy with owl-shaped hair and a green suit with a cape/cloak. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is the only Owl we ever get, too.

This is a pretty good wave. Three new villains is a lot, and there are some modern Spideys for those who are into that.

Only complaint is that Hasbro hasn’t done an over-sized Spidey villain that isn’t a new version of Venom, Kingpin, or Carnage in like 3-4 years.

Also, really wish they would finish the Fearsome Foes. Just totally dropped the ball there.
