Spider-Man Retro 2026 Wave with Cardiac, Owl & Hypno Hustler

I like the looks on all those. I have no connection or care for any of these villains but they look really well done. They're very pretty. I'll probably just stick to the 3 Spidermans (Kurt included). I don't like the sword they gave him though. Its the same one they gave Sif. Doesn't look like something Kurt would use. He likes cutless and fencing swords. This is double edged.

Always happy to get another DD villain. Thank god he shares a rogue's gallery with Spider-Man so his villains actually get made. A shame the Owl's coat will hinder the more dynamic poses like gliding or... perching? But it could definitely be worse. No interest in any of the other figures. Uncanny Spider-Man was by far the best fall-of-Krakoa book but I still don't need that look as an action figure, especially without a Silver Sable to pair him with. Hopefully we see that BAMF effect re-released at some point.

Three Spidey antagonists in a wave like this is a win. Especially when two of the three Spider-Man variants are never been done before figures as well.

Zero females is a tad disappointing but not a tragedy. At this rate it will be another decade before we get to Madame Web, Calypso and Panda-mania...

But hoping we can get a future wave with low cost entrants Spot and Will o' the Wisp so the budget can go to Swarm. I would buy all the Spider-Men they loaded in that wave to express my gratitude.

Iron Spider MJ reminds me of how pretty a modern Hasbro Madame Web could look. It's crazy how the character got a movie and still didn't score a figure spot.

Also disappointed with no female in this wave. But honestly - this is the first wave in a long time where none of the characters interest me or are characters I have a connection to. Might pick up a few, but not if money is tight - and money is probably always going to be tight.

I was looking at this again, and a shot from MCM's display booth; neither show the right side of his face clearly, but there's a spot under his eye... and the more I look at that, and just around the side of his jaw, Im slightly worried that there is symbiote goop starting to come up the sides of his face.
Which would be really annoying, because I like this head and dont want to have to work to acetone off some black goop.

The head in the box mock-up looks clean, but the blown up image does make it look like his right ear is black. Would be weird for them not to highlight that kind of detail though, regardless of how we would feel about it.

So, what's up with the Owl figure? When did he ever wear boots? I can almost see the terrible use of that overly detailed and layered overcoat if it is reuse, but I don't recognize it.

If anything, the Owl would have been a very good contender for the first wired cape.

Definitely not classic Owl.

Does anyone know a source they pulled this Owl design from? Is it just a convenient reuse... or a terrible original sculpt they came up with on their own?

EDIT:

Ah, yes OF COURSE this Owl is from a VARIANT Daredevil cover, in which he DOES NOT even appear in the comic. Note the head matches the sculpt, and there are owls on it. He never really rolls with an Owl. Yet the figure comes with one. I just noticed the card art on the figure even has this art clipped from it.

So this is another Dwight...Ok let's just google image search Marvel Owl, oh that looks cool... I'll make that one? VARIANT cover fiigure.

I mean, Owl is a little lower on my priority list than MY FAVORITE Marvel Character in my FAVORITE Costume outback Rogue- who was BUTCHERED by this very same toy design technique, but it is STILL disgusting that it seems to have happened AGAIN.

Sweet. So, What VARIANT cover art design that a Character NEVER looks like in any panels or any other media do people want Dwight to make next? Let's start a poll on that.

This is Disgusting. I guess I should really blame Jesse Falcon for this crap. Since it happens repeatedly, he must be cool with it, or he doesn't actually care enough to stop this stupid shit from happening.

I’d absolutely prefer a classic Owl, but this is one of those where a few tweaks will bring it close enough to a minds’ eye version. Ditch the red scarf, add a waistcoat overlay onto the chest (I have a few candidates in my fodder) and sculpt/source a fancy necktie.

If I was super bothered, I’d dremel off that beard, but that’s venturing into the realms of too much work.

The way that figure looks, It would only fit in an MCU collection. But of course that is just my opinion. It will be interesting to see what you come up with.

For me, Owl is a minor character, so I may replace his scarf with a bow and that would be classic enough for me. Him and Cardiac are the only 100% instant buys. I may get Hypno Hustler up front to to encourage more of such random figures, but I'm sure he will be a discount figure down the road. The rest are discount at best. Don't need them.

Try reaching out on social media, maybe he’ll give you a direct answer.

Spider-man 2099 is tempting and so is Owl but only due to his cameo in Spider-man tas which is were I know him from mostly. Though I think he was in Daredevil season 1 on Netflix?? His scarf could be used for a Genosha/Tux Gambit from X-men '97.
