Quitting/putting collecting on pause

Love that the spinner rack is a conversation starter. I bought it to celebrate paying off my student loans and then had it in storage at my parents’ for almost the last ten years. It was the first thing I brought over. This is my view all day while on I’m work calls.

Also, in regards to how weird it can be to explain the hobby to others: I have a four-year-old daughter who loves going in my room and looking and touching everything. She said to me a couple weeks ago something about what her little friends’ “daddies had in their daddy rooms with action figures.” It’s funny that it’s her norm, but I tried to explain that “other daddies have different hobbies like sports or cars and probably don’t have rooms like mine.”

As a 90s adolescent, my dad and stepmom used to look sideways at the Bad Girls and even Marvel women, but never said anything were supportive of the hobbies.

I have to imagine every time my dad saw Avengelyne and Witchblade and just thought, "Okay, he quit sports and just wants to draw and play guitar, but there's no way he's gay with those posters and comics, so we got that going."

I realized early on that I liked ladies from
the original Pink Ranger Kimberly and Jim Balent’s Catwoman art.

It’s a cool thing to have!

Whenever anyone asks what my hobbies are, I just say “Ever watch Big Bang Theory? I’d get along well with Sheldon and Leonard.”

I have more motivation to sell stuff with the impending new house.

The mortgage is going to kill an entire pay period for the month each month, so to get my dream "geek room" book shelves/whatnot, I need to sell stuff to get the cash to get said storage/displays.
That will really get me to decide WHAT I want to keep and display.

Having the room itself is the big part. The good news about things like bookshelves is that they aren’t limited edition at all, so no rush on getting them. My shelves are all mostly IKEA with a few smaller things from Amazon.

Yeah, having the space to spread the stuff out to really dig through it all and sort it out will be the biggest thing.

We've got the inspection on Wed, so I'll be able to get some pics of the space and measurements so I can look at options and try to visualize the setup. I already have ideas for certain themes for some of them in the future, and with some of the Extreme_Sets pieces I have, I can potentially set up nicer displays than just bare shelves.

I love the Extreme Sets stuff. I bought a bunch of it a few years back, but it was all just so large that I wasn't able to utilize any of it in my space since I don't have a dedicated room for things. They're so much fun and great to look at, you're going to have such an awesome setup in there.

I relatively recently just splurged on a bunch of these as well with their holiday deals but haven't had a chance to break any of them out yet.

They're a lot of fun, and even if you're not into taking photos they're still great for display. I don't remember every numbered version I have, but I had picked up the mansion, the 2.0 Batcave, an alley scene, a dungeon scene, and one other that I can't think of right now. I only ever opened up the dungeon and alley scenes, and quickly realized they were much too big for me. As my grandfather used to say, my "eyes were bigger than my stomach", so to speak.

They're awesome, enjoy!

I'm hoping to.

I have one of the wrestling arena sets, and the OG Mattel Elite WWE ring & a cage, so I'm debating if that's something I sell, or do I keep it and try to create a plexiglass/acrylic case big enough to set it up in one part of the room. Displaying figures around that kind of thing would look amazing, but it would take up SO MUCH SPACE.

I'd like to do something similar, but with the radio controlled Justice League and Pattinson Batmobiles. Just cut, texture and paint some foam for concrete and display the cars with the figures from the movies that I have.

Kimberly from MMPR and Topanga from Boy Meets World are my original childhood crushes.

Cami Cooper, whom I was exposed to in the cult-classic "Shocker" film from Wes Craven, was my dream girl as a kid. When they're in the lake, trying to find the necklace, and she comes out of the fog, man oh man. When Mrs. Smallville and I got together, we agreed that if Cami Cooper, Michelle Pfeiffer, or Elizabeth Olsen were to knock on the door and tell me it's time, I'm allowed to go with them no questions asked.

Mrs. Smallville gets to leave with Jason Statham, Idris Elba, or Angelina Jolie.

I feel comfortable in our choices.
