NECA - General Thread

Oh, I've been wanting them to do other characters forever!! I'd love to at least have Alice, Ginny, and a couple different iterations of Tommy Jarvis! Crazy Ralph would be fantastic to get in figure form as well!
Oh man, Part VI Tommy's a major part of the game. Maaaaaybe that's workable? I don't even think he's be tough to make, I'm sure they'd get most of the parts from like a Last of Us Joel or something, and I bet Thom Mathews would be thrilled. I met him at a con around when the game came out and he was so excited to talk about it.

There's a dude I run into at cons and screenings in the Northeast who cosplays Crazy Ralph when there's Friday the 13th stuff happening. Man, a Ralph figure would be great.

I know no one has had much luck making civilian heroes from horror films unless it's like Ash, or occasionally Dr. Loomis and Laurie Strode, but the number of characters from Friday the 13th I'd buy is excessive. Ginny, Tommy, Ralph, Alice, Tina from New Blood, Fox and Ali and Vera from III, Jimmy from Final Chapter (Crispin Glover!), Demon and Violet from New Beginning, J.J. and Julius and Eva from Jason Takes Manhattan...I'd never stop buying doomed Crystal Lake inhabitants. The paintball dorks from Jason Lives! Hell, I'd buy the characters from the NES game.

Anyone know if the Trick or Treat Leprechaun figure will fit in with NECA's horror stuff? The listings say 8-inch scale, and I'm assuming they are using the term correctly and therefore he should be fudgeable with 1:10/7-inch scale, but I haven't seen the actual height listed.

Dang, I was just thinking: we're probably not getting the little Jason demon with the Part 9 figure since it's from the game, are we?

On the other hand, we do get the unmasked head from the game, which isn't in the film as far as I know.

Got it, that is much more complicated than I realized. Their solution was not totally dissimilar, I guess, to how you can get the Ghostface rights separate from Scream.

I guess this also kills my chances of getting movie characters from the Paramount era, except maybe the ones who showed up in the game? I'd buy a Fox figure.

Yeah, a similar situation.

Scream used the Ghostface costume, so NECA can do all the costume/mask variants that company has made over the years, they just can't label it 'Scream' or include a cell phone with the figures.

That's because the costume existed before the movies and they licensed it, right? Even the boutique horror merch companies just license Ghostface for shirts. Honestly, it always looks pretty lame to me to have that logo instead of the Scream one.

I kind of like those Fortnite horror figures as an add on to the Jada Scooby Doo line.

I have the few Toony horror figures for the smaller figures that got released for the 'Scoob' movie, but ones that would better fit Jada's size and style might be worth a look.

It's definitely unlikely we'll get the demon thing from JGtH with this, so I guess I'll be holding on to the pack-in that came with the old Mezco Cinema of Fear figure.

You are correct that the unmasked look isn't shown in the film, although they apparently did build the prosthetic for it so this appears to be based on that. I guess the game used it in their skin, so that is allowing NECA to do that alternate head? I'd be curious to see if any other weapons are packed in, as I can't imagine it only comes with an axe and an alternate head, but who knows in this Tariff driven hellscape we're in?

I don't entirely know, but I know that the rest of ToT's Scream Greats line isn't quite in scale with the NECA figures. Some of the more alien ones like Killer Klowns, you could probably excuse the difference because they're aliens and have sorta bulbous clothing, but not on others. Here's a screenshot of the Michael Myers compared to some of NECA's from a video review. The scale is awful, but definitely off. Not sure how it'll be with Leprechaun- the height might more or less be alright, but not sure about the width, etc. Then again, I'm not as much a stickler about scale, so it may look better to me than others.

I would say the machete's practically a guarantee and I could see something like that pipe or whatever it was from the diner scene show up. Maybe even Jason's heart. The big question to me is if they can make the dagger, which didn't show up in the game and is also identifiably specific.

Forgive me if it was mentioned elsewhere, but looks like ToyShiz posted the Target Haulathon lineup for later this year.

Shame Pee-Wee is tied to it again, but the original wasn't thaaat hard to find after a while. Might try and snag Super Grover too.

Re-releasing the old Harry Potter figures is an.... interesting choice.

I'm glad I'm getting a second chance to get that Dumbledore and Voldemort, they're great looking figures if anything. But it's weird that they seemingly got the license back just to make those again, instead of making new figures. Also, how does hasbro getting the master license tie into this?

Y'know, I like a lot of these figures and everything, but I'm not necessarily part of the market for these latest licenses like Sesame Street, Muppets, Duck Tales, McDonald's, etc. I admire them, I just can't get caught up in new collections. But they really make me think about an old friend of mine who died about 10 years ago. He was the biggest nerd for these specific franchises that I've ever known, and would have been over the damned moon about these. Wish he'd been around to see it.
