Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

I’ll happily stand corrected, but this doesn’t give me the AI “feel” I constantly get with the bajillion other AI figure things that get inflicted on my eyes.
Particularly this photo:

The imperfections on the (presumably) glow in the dark paint on the bones of the torso and neck particularly.

Again, I will happily concede that I am incorrect and they are fake.

In terms of the AI question on ScareGlow, the one thing I wonder about it is the weird image over the “deluxe articulation” marketing text - wtf is that?

That's on the official packaging we've seen, although the official packaging doesn't say 'deluxe articulation' or whatever underneath it.

Of note: All the Toy Fair talk made extra certain to note the red in the logo to denote the "movie" figures. This is the second of two figures to have a black text gold trim logo, so I believe we're going to see all-purpose MotU figures released around then that they just did not care to show off at Toy Fair for... whatever reason? And these are the first two of those. I could be wrong and it's just specific retailer exclusives. We'll see.

If I'm right though, this style is kind of exactly what I want for MotU. Not too slavish to the specific details, just trying to get the design to come across and look sick as hell in the process. Reminds me a bit of why I love Mondo's looks for Thundercats, MotU, and the very little we have of TMNT. Speaking of which-- I hope Mattel pulls inspiration from Mondo TMNT when they make their own line.

Regardless, if this is what we're getting from non-movie Chronicles, I am in.

The weirdest thing about Scareglow that makes me think it might be someone's custom is that it's CLEARLY bigger than Masterverse Scareglow despite the Chronicles figures being noted by every single person to see them as being distinctly smaller in scale than Masterverse.

I did notice that.

I wonder (IF this is real) if this was a forward move they were gonna make with Masterverse in general and Scare Glow was the first of that and then they just grandfathered him into Chronicles and figured SG can be tall and that’s fine.

At any rate: I hope it’s real because it’s just awesome irrespective of line or even the franchise.

The packages we have seen do have that text underneath, so it lines up perfectly.

The size is sort of throwing me off here. In both box shots he looks very minimally different from Chronicles He-Man, in regard to size. Maybe just a tiny bit bigger. But the comparison photos feel incredibly odd and might be a perspective thing... He doesn't feel Masterverse-sized next to the Origins Scareglow, at least looking at comparisons I've seen. And that Masterverse Scareglow feels comically small?

If that's true it would mean they sculpted a whole new body with all new articulation, used it just for Scareglow, and then sculpted a whole -new- new body that's smaller but has the same new articulation to use in Chronicles proper. So that's definitely not the case, I'd say. It could be a perspective thing, like Niko says, and Masterverse Scareglow just -looks- smaller.

It's a mystery, indeed.
Another thing that's weird about all this is the guy saying 'I found this at Walmart' but NO ONE seems to know where this person lives.

In all honesty I do believe they are fake. One, because it's just so popular now to use AI to show fake yet plausible shit. Two, we just had Toy Fair and Mattel made it very clear 2026 was about the Movie. And made absolutely no mention of any non-movie Chronicles figures. Even if there will be non-Movie Chronicle figures someday, would they at all be this year? And if they aren't this year, is there any way there would be finished packaged versions of these figures?

Don't get me wrong, if they turned out to be real, I'll be happy to be wrong and get them. But there are a few things suspicious. The timing, the look of the figures in the images, especially when compared to other very real looking AI images I see of other figures like Marvel Legends, GI Joe Classifieds, etc., and then the most suspicious of all, it's on the internet.

This stuff reminds me of one of the all-time best episodes of Star Trek, In the Pale Moonlight, in which our hero Sisco, facing imminent defeat in a bloody war, tries to lure the neutral Romans to their side with a clever forgery of what is essentially a video of the bad guys discussing the invasion of Romulus. A good chunk of the episode is him fretting over whether or not his lie will pass off as the truth.

So true to life these days in that all media can be manipulated to pass as real. The only thing "fiction" about this science fiction is that in order to create this elaborate forgery, they need to enlist the help of a shady underworld-type character. Not true today. 300 years earlier, this stuff can be created by you in your basement.

Also, if this Scareglow turns out to be fake, I have the famous meme from this episode ready.....READY to post. I want to be the one to do it. I really, really want to do it......

So, that guy's story doesn't even make sense.

He received a defective Masterverse product, so Mattel told him they could only give him a Chronicles figure as a replacement? Not passing the smell test for me.

Not to mention that his post and comment history is mostly all about computer shit, lots of questions about fonts and code shit. Don't know. Until I see more of these popping up, I'm shelving this one firmly under bullshit until proven otherwise.
