Marvel Cinematic Universe Figure Discussion

Ant-Man: Quantumania
Hank
Janet
Cassie (normal size)
Jentorra
Quaz

Im surprised no MODOK!

I got a comic MODOK for cheap and paid for an unhelmeted and helmeted painted face plate from ETSY. Unexpectedly looks really awesome. I know Hasblow will never get around to making an official one which is why I pulled the trigger.

I am also thinking - the upcoming comic Abomination using the gamer verse sculpt with the comic head sculpt is probably close enough for me to include it in the collection as a phase 4+ MCU version. Anyone else planning to do this?

I saw that face plate on Etsy and was a little bit tempted by it. I don't know- MODOK just doesn't feel like that big a priority for me. Maybe if he was done differently, he's not even my most wanted from that movie. The fact we haven't gotten a Janet yet feels wrong, but I know Michelle Pfeiffer is (or at least was) supposedly not cheap with her likeness rights.

Still, Etsy has had some really great looking stuff to spruce up MCU figs- Kamala's power effects, Mysterio's drones, heck, even entire figures that we'll probably never get like Rocket's animal buddies from vol. 3. Customizers really do blow me away with their work sometimes.

I thought the same about Abomination. Maybe a mix of the upcoming figure and the Gamerverse one, though the feet are wrong on both, I believe. He's another one that I don't really care about enough to absolutely need an entirely screen accurate version, as long as it's close enough.

Hank/Janet would be a great two-pack, with mini-versions of all of them. But I don't know if I want them in Wasp/Ant-Man suits or Ant-Man and the Wasp suit and rescue outfit. As long as they make clean headsculpts of them then I can mix and match.

My list is not as long as some (yay!), but pretty extensive. :)

DARCY
Aunt May
Gamora v3
High Evo
Loki - The Avengers complete re-do
Widow/Hulk/Hawkeye/Thor - The Avengers - complete re-do
Malekith (with an alt Dark Elf head)
Whiplash - Racetrack
Justin Hammer would be fun (or a pack-in head somewhere/next time Tony in a suit gets released - speaking of)
Tony Stark - workshop version, tracksuit or actual suit - a bespoke Tony with a properly-sized RDJr likeness
Queen Ramonda
AoU Wanda
AoU Hawkeye
AoU Final Ultron
Christine from MoM
Cassie Lang - normal sized
Ghost
Bucky
JLD
The Void
Taskmaster
Invisible Sue
HERBIE & Baby Franklin
TVA Agent
Elektra/Gambit

Kaecilius/Ancient One
Hank/Janet
Dar-Benn/final suit Captain Marvel
Deadpool Wade and Vanessa

Shows:
Simon & Trevor - I would prefer casual looks for them instead of their outfits, but Trevor's blue suit was fetching
Witch's Road Agatha
Wiccan
Loki - Finale
Renslayer
TVA Agent (double listing :)
Ironheart - 2-5 look
Echo - Hawkeye leather jacket
50s Wanda/Vision
Karen and Foggy - DD
Jennifer Walters Lawyer and Mustard DD
Lawyer She-Hulk (update that face and hair!!!)
Emil - human

There's probably more but I'm gonna stop. :)

I want Whiplash (racetrack), Ancient One, Darcy Lewis, Misty Knight, Aunt May, Queen Ramonda, Echo, Ruth Bat-Seraph, Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, Stick, Elektra (Defenders), Elektra (Deadpool & Wolverine), Killgrave, Wiccan, High Evolutionary, Valentina, Simon Williams, Ramona Renslayer, Hunter B-15, Dar-Benn, Ironheart's final armor from Ironheart and Captain Marvel's suit from the second half of The Marvels.

Good lookin' out, definitely have to add M.O.D.O.K. to the list. I love Quantumania so that's an egregious error on my part.

I specifically want the Hank and Janet undercover Quantum Realm looks, as I feel those are their coolest outfits from any of the movies. I wouldn't be mad about getting a Hope in her Quantum Realm get-up too.

As far as Abomination, I actually do want the old grody flesh-colored monstrosity from Incredible Hulk and the more modern one from Shang-Chi/She-Hulk, but more than those I want pre-Abomination Blonsky. I love the scene where he's trying to fight the Hulk, all flipping around and running and shit until Hulk boots him into a tree. That's was the first time in the MCU that we saw a super powered human that still looked human and it has always stuck with me.

I remember watching that scene with Blonsky and thinking this was a preview of what Captain America could move like. Also really stuck with me in those early MCU days.

I'm back with ones I forgot:
Chitauri
Ultron Drones
a new SHIELD three-pack of Coulson, Maria and Nick
Peterpool
B15
TVA Temporal Suit (I still think that design was snazzy)
Miss Minutes
Razorfist
Michelle Yeoh's character
I really wanna say Ruth or Leader but BNW was so bad I really just don't
Selvig and Jane would be great but I have customs and the MS so I forget those aren't real
Frigga
Dress Blues Rhodey
Endgame Nebula
Endgame Rocket
Tom Hardy Eddie Brock
She-Venom

A HasLab Giant Ant-Man
Arishem

Miss Minutes is such an easy idea for a pack-in that it's wild they haven't included her yet. I think most folks would be fine if she was unarticulated, just having her at all would be enough. I've seen some Legends-sized customs pop up through the years, and hell, the little Funko pack-in looks decent enough. If you'd have told me that I'd one day be caring for a little animated clock with a southern accent and wanting a figure of her, I'd think you were crazy.

Also, a redo of the SHIELD pack would be lovely. Hell, Nick alone needs a good figure- the most classic look we have for him is a figure that looks like he's either T-posing or trying to take flight. Coulson and Maria aren't terrrrible, and they look good enough just standing there, but don't hold up well by today's standards. And if they're doing one 3 pack, they may as well give us the Warriors Three (preferably the first version of Fandral; I don't need a Zachary Levi figure on my shelf, thanks).

Other than that, my biggest wants are villains. Some characters, like Wiccan, Cassie, etc. we know we'll see again in some form, maybe even with snazzier costumes, so, while I definitely want them, they feel a little less necessary. But most of the villains, especially the one-offs that we'll never get again, feel like the priority. And even though I've really grown to roll my eyes any time we get another release of that suited body, I'd totally take a Justin Hammer, if only to have Rockwell on the shelf. I want them to figure out whatever the hell they're doing with Armor Wars just so we can get him back on the screen. But worse comes to worse, a Hammer/Whiplash 2-pack would be *chef's kiss*.

I'd buy a lot of these figures that people have recommended, and I don't even really consider myself a MCU collector.

With that being said I can't help but wonder if Hasbro has become far more conservative with what they're willing to do for live action. We all know about the deep clearance for things like Eternals, Multiverse of Madness and the Disney+ wave figures - but even when they seemingly dialed back for things like Brave New World and Thunderbolts those figures didn't perform much better at retail and could be found discounted more than 50% relatively easily not long after release. The A-list re-releases of Spider-Man, Iron Man and Cap don't seem to have sold well either.

This hasn't been just a Marvel issue either. I've definitely seen it with Star Wars Black Series figures as well, especially anything related specifically to a Disney+ release.

I think what Hasbro shows us for Brand New Day and Doomsday should tell us a lot about what we can expect from Marvel Legends live action figures going forward (good or bad). If they just give a handful of the big names and nothing else then that is likely all we should ever expect again going forward. Hopefully they'll find a way to at least sprinkle in some others.

However, choosing to not ever even offer any type of live action figure for titular characters in their own televised series like Echo and Werewolf by Night (and at least so far Wonder Man) probably already really tells me all that I need to now.

They're definitely not doing the output they once did, and are certainly a bit more logical with the releases. It does feel like they're giving us a few of the heavy hitters from each movie and then waiting to see how the movie itself does before committing to more. Depending on the movie, though, even that could backfire, if the figures come out too long after the movie. Things like Spidey and Deadpool are always gonna sell, so they're safer bets.

It's just so hard to know what'll connect. Most of the time, the figures I saw sticking around were the comic figures that they worked into the MCU waves, so at first you'd think that they just needed to focus on movie figures only. Of course, then you have the special cases like Eternals, Katy, etc. None of the Covid-era MCU figures really sold all that well, at least at first. Even Shang-Chi clogged the pegs for a hot minute (and still do in some places) because its release date got pushed back. I think folks in general are just more frugal nowadays- seeing movies less, which result in buying less movie figures, and so on.
