JOYTOY Mechs and Warhammer and stuff

Well sure. They're eye-catching. Get people talking and presumably buying. Honestly, I still have the gaming mentality for this property. Build & paint an army from the ground up. And eventually get to named characters. But that's not how people likely approach the Joytoy stuff. They're just going for cool looking pieces. Eventually they'll get an army going almost by happenstance. So yeah, the big shiny leader pieces attract them and then keep feeding that interest with other pieces to supplement the centerpiece.
To be fair, I think that's the way the hobby has gone too. More and more people are finding the interesting characters and coolest looking hero models and working backwards from there on what kind of army they want.

Personally, the only stuff I really want from JoyToy are more Black Templars. I've decided to stay in that lane. Too much great looking stuff if I don't restrict myself. Ironically, I have not purchased a Rogal Dorn -- tempted to, though.

For replacement parts, I've only had to go through Gundamit and Aliexpress. Both worked out but they took some time to make it right.

I'll try that. The actual support email left me on read.

For Warhammer I only did the Sisters.

Only picked up the Roman girl because I wanted to fudge an Athena. I await my lecture.

Awesome! Hopefully they do well and we get a good selection of troops. At least the Death Guard look different. Even though they are indeed Space Marines they don't look just like other Space Marines in different colors.

If there was ever a line I wish I could afford to go all-in, it would be JoyToy 40K. Alas, I'll always have to admire from afar.

I realize that StarCraft is largely just a ripoff of Warhammer 40k, but I enjoyed the games as a teen. I see they're now making tabletop miniatures of the 3 Starcraft factions and will have to resist the urge to fall into that money pit once the McFarlane line ends and starts saving me money.

What I like about 40k as a toyline is that I can pick-and-choose the same way I do for the actual game. It's impossible for -almost- anyone to collect, build, and paint every army. MAYBE you could if you're just doing Combat Patrol (even that is a lot of painting and assembly). But I'd hazard to say most players choose an army or two and mostly stick with it.

I've decided to -mostly- collect Black Templar JoyToy, as well as the occasional Space Wolves. That's a nice hard-out for me so I can avoid getting dragged into other things that look really cool.

I thought about that but when it comes to lines I collect my OCD tends to get the better of me. I have a very difficult time maintaining a narrow focus so I've found its best not to even dip a toe.
