Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

yeah! It’s confusing because 1.0 just means fist Kickstarter, 2.0 means woman/elf/goblin, but then 3.0 is “males with upgraded articulation”, BUT THEN they call updated versions of older figures “2” which is NOT 2.0…
The 4H are literally bad at -everything-. Fucking clownshoes kind of shit every time I open this thread.

So here’s a guide!
This is a male 2.0 body, if a figure uses ANY of these parts: 2.0, 99% of all 2.0 males use this torso so it’s easy to spot.

Standard Gobbo! If you see this chest plate, it’s 2.0!

Scorpion guy actually introduces, finally after all these years, a new 2.0 male torso piece, so he’s the only male without the orb chest plate give away

The Tall Gray Alien in Cosmic I believe is also 2.0 compatible, but I’ve never felt the urge to swap parts on him to actually confirm. I think Neve is 1.0 compatible (The cosmic alien she shares arms with was) but mine has a tight waist and I haven’t had a chance to heat her to pop her apart to see if she can wear over belts or pants yet.
This is so deeply confusing, but Lord knows I recognize that good ol' rotary phone dial chest plate.

More or less how I feel every time I want to do something with their line. But I really want to make my Forge Cleric Paz Ironside.and the two pack was my only shot for now.

I use stock and expansion kit Thraice as Nyssa, Hadriana with Walgreens Sue head as my Cavalier Hawkspar, and one day I'll figure out some kitbashes to make Artemyss my astral druid Akira.

Honestly I have a better time with LEGO making my tabletop crew.

Honestly if there were a better line for kit-bashing your D&D characters I'd be all over it but part of the reason I think a lot of us pay attention to this line is nobody else is really filling that gap. Anyone else doing fantasy stuff is very limited in options but at least here you can get some elves, dwarves, orcs, and gobelins or whatever.

Honestly though I'm lazy AF and my kit-bashes have primarily just been headswaps and maybe shoulder gear. I hate dismantling limbs and stuff.

Give savage Crucible 2 - 3 years to build up a parts catalog and I really do think they may become 4H's biggest competitor in this market. The new parts from Death Dealer and Elric will allow for some new figure types. Elric alone may signal that knights may be on the horizon, considering almost all of him is new armored part from what I can tell.

Man, I really want Death Dealer and his Horse so much. And that Fury Toys red Tiger.

I agree with Dek that, given enough time and no catastrophic collapses of the economy, Savage Crucible will be the contender for this. I'd go a step further and say, provided they don't their approach to customer satisfaction, Harvinger won't have much trouble eclipsing the 4H in terms of being the 'go-to' fantasy guys, with 4H mostly just picking up the slack on what SC hasn't made yet.

How about some Beyithirr updates? It's been a year, they have more than a grand of my money for one thing. I would appreciate a progress report of any kind.

I think if all goes well like you said, the only thing that can really hold back Harvinger is that they don't interact with the fans as much as 4H does. But I also get the impression from watching Rob Post in Livestreams and my (very) brief conversation with him is that he doesn't want to be friends with the fans, and I think that's good. He's not rude, he's not unpleasant and he will give you all his time until you decide its enough, but you are not making friends. And again I think that's a good thing. I've watched 3rd Party Transformer companies try to be friends with fans and it go really wrong, because when the fans are ultimately told no they take it very personal. They also take it very personal when what they want isn't produced, because they told them in forums what they wanted and the company reps were genial about it, so why didn't they make it for them? (Keep in mind a lot o Transformer 3rd Party fans are entitled, so your mileage may vary with these anecdotes.) It's like being a teacher; you can be friendly with your students but you can never be friends with your students. Respect the boundaries of the roles; Rob Post is the owner and we are the customers and that should be the boundary we all respect. All that said, I think Harvinger could benefit with more fan engagement through Instagram and Twitter posts. A photo a week will keep them ever present in the fan's mind. I think that's the reason behind their new strategy with their figure drops. They want to do around one a month, if it isn't smaller waves, so that you think of them fairly regularly. Whether you like him or not Dan Yun is very good at reminding you about upcoming product on a fairly regular basis, he keeps Marvel Legends on you mind. I want that for Harvinger.

I'd love that. Let's see some female figures, some more variety (what they've done so far is INCREDIBLE but looking forward to seeing knights, mages, some alternate humanoids, etc). I'll happily convert over. 4H has just been the only game in town for too long so there's a pile of figures and parts to pop and swap with for those who do that kind of thing, but SC are objectively better figures.

I want a sort of Juggernaut/Hulkbuster chunky Warhammer armor for my Dwarven Cleric.

Are there characters I'd look to to help me ala carte parts?
This might be to your liking, if you don't mind sanding and painting.
It's out of stock now, but I believe he still does periodic restocks on his 3d printed items. I've bought from Wolf King before and the only negative I could say is that he isn't great at cleaning up the nubs on his prints, but it's not too hard to do yourself with some high-grit sandpaper. Be sure to wear a mask when you sand.

I didn't partake as it wasn't anything I absolutely needed or wanted to pay for, but they really should be giving updates on in production crowdfunding endeavors if they're going to launch new ones to tie up more of people's money.

Oh yeah - THE thing propping up the 4H right now is the breadth of parts available combined with the absolutely rabid element in their fanbase. Once SC has a greater library of parts and body types, I don't see much reason beyond 'I already have so many' for people to stick with Mythic Legions.

That being said, I do respect that Harvinger isn't chasing that so hard that they overwhelm themselves with new body types. The pace is slow, but steady and sensible. And they're not even remotely giving in to customer pressure to just make it all right now. The owner definitely seems to understand how to pace the company so as not to blow himself up.

Rob Post said he would never release his first female figure as a convention exclusive or a convention drop. I took that to mean that they are planning female figures sometime in the future. If I was a betting man, and I am NOT, I would say we may see a female figure in wave 5 or 6, (if they continue to use that model.)

But to stay on topic, I have their Bear and Attlus, and they're fine. I would probably be more excited for the Bear if Fury Toys hadn't shown their poseable lion, and if Savage Crucible hadn't shown Death Dealer's Warhorse made in conjunction with Fish Toys. Those really show the severe limitation of 4H's articulation scheme for animals. Should you get the bear? Yeah, I think so. It's a bear for God's sake, and we should all own toy bears, but 4H does need to update their articulation schemes. They've been at it for over ten years, so why don't they update the articulation and start to put out updates of their named characters? Sure, their fans will complain, but they'll complain as they buy them. And isn't that what any toy company really wants? To be cursed out as you give them money?

The 4H don't update their figures because they don't actually care. Why put in that kind of effort when you can just keep repainting the same four figures over and over again for eternity.
