Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

is everything okay? I've never seen such hatred towards a toy company before. I understand you don't agree with their business ethics so why not just not support them? I genuinely don't understand why you keep up on the news with something you despise so much. I generally don't dwell on these things and just keep my money to myself, rarely do I campaign against toy companies I don't like, and never to this extent. I don't ask this to start an argument, but as someone new to these boards it is genuinely shocking how much you post about how much you hate them, and how often you post about hating them. Like, is there greater context I am unaware of?

Wow, wowowowow woooow… wow!

That email, man, woof.

so I guess they’re seeing the optics of crossing AoD’s backer count in the next day or so but still being some $200k short of funding total and asking the cult why they don’t love them enough.

I means it’s working, the total number of All-in’s has gone up as has the average daily pledge (not gonna full math breakdown especially since I think a retailer dumped some cash in the morning which might be skewing the admittedly tiny sample set)

Average pledge is still going down daily (though it has pretty much held at $398~ since Saturday) and it’s still $100 less than AoD’s $500 per backer.

They’re probably kicking themselves for not keeping the Paladin tied to the deluxe bundles. They’ve sold a total of 506 sets, still way below the 750 limit (and if I’m reading correctly it was actually a 1500 limit?! Fuckers didn’t even to lift that cap, only like 300 backers would have missed out if they kept him tied and limited and helped push the numbers like they wanted) even if he’s the best selling add-on they gave up $680 to sell a $60 one.

ANYWAY! Enough dunking even though that email was PATHETIC, like guys begging their ex-girlfriend to come back on an Instagram post announcing her upcoming wedding are less sad.

I’m totally stealing Doc’s dwarf set up… Young Gimli on the Exile Body, Exiles head on the Silver Dwarf builder, that sounds like it’s gonna be super cool looking!

Also I can’t place the celebrity for Exile Dwarf but he is giving me serious Uncle Ruckus vibes… I imagine him walking around shouting slurs at the other dwarves because they’ll never be as beautiful and glorious as the noble elves…

Also, I do plan to back this Kickstarter eventually (I want them to sweat it out a bit, I’m not gonna help them break either of AoD’s records any time soon, but I’m ponying up like $250+ by 4/4 for sure) and I think Teal Warpaint Neve has sold me on a full druid kit.

The Druid’s blue cape and green hair kinda go with Teal Neve’s hair… they can be like a Xena and Gabriel duo on the shelf! (They’re all like “Hey! Gideon long time no see!” And he’s like “I DON’T KNOW YOU! I don’t go to that kind of tavern!!!” and hurries away)

And see that’s why I’m in this thread!

The Horsemen themselves are a couple of low life scummy con men who are riding off the success of “we made He-Man look like McFarlane toys and have a cool edgelord name!” for nearly a quarter century… but damned if it isn’t fun to take their generic Fantasy figure, throw their terrible lore in the trash can, and make a fun custom with it.

I think it is a bit more than that, they do produce some very nice figures and the sculpts and paint is usually top notch. I appreciate that they do some interesting stuff in the Figure Obscura line, and the older Eathyron's Dozen set of bird warriors is still a favorite mini-line for me, and I am on board for the upcoming "aquatic" figures. I don't buy a ton of their product but I wouldn't say they are just coasting on name recognition.

I also think a lot of the smaller, more niche companies like Savage Crucible, Spero, Fresh Monkey Fiction and others might never have happened without them being the template. There were not many (if any) "mom and pop" action figure companies when they started out and now we have dozens of relatively small firms making their own figure lines. Its good for the industry as a whole and for fans of figures.

Kinda want the Druid.

But I'd need to get the all in ten pack?

I think you can buy the Wizard figure and then for $15 pick up an add-on set with the Druid parts. Its an add on, not a pledge level. Same for the three other alternate versions...

Cool, thanks. Kickstarter Add On menu always throws me.

I genuinely don't understand why you keep up on the news with something you despise so much.
It's a toy forum and I keep up with all the toy news. And then I discuss what I think is worth discussing.
Also, being a mod, I try to read as many threads as I can, so I'm always going to be reading what's going on whether I like the company or not as long as you guys are actively talking about them (for instance, the email we're discussing now I learned about right here).

Cool.

I imagine there's some recency bias here. Over the grandness of 102 pages at current count, I haven't posted all that much. But over the last 30 pages or so? Definitely. Because there's been things to talk about. Beyond that, I'd also point out that it's a discussion forum. You can say I post about it 'a lot' - but it's generally in the context of ongoing conversations, not just me showing up to scream into the void two or three times per page.

But yeah, I'm pretty comfortable getting into it, in detail, when companies do some bullshit. It's just that, at the moment, the 4H are the ones doing some bullshit. As you've seen a few of us regularly discussing. I'm probably the most vitriolic about it - but that is simply my way. It does not have to be yours.

Hope that helps.

Damien's TTRPG Kickstarter is called Swords & Standards. He's afflicted with having too many of both.

Seriously, I don't get this 4H email. Are they going into GAMA Expo wanting, like, an unassailable backer level so no one can point out they've brought a game that's not actually a game? Because I don't like their odds there, although maybe some people will be swayed by being able to play with toys at a booth table? I don't know, I'm looking at the map and they're stationed right next to the Squishable booth. That about says it for me.

Although if Squishable did an RPG where you used their plushies for boss battles, at least shit wouldn't be falling over everywhere.

Also, that whole tone of "We're all in this together" is galling. I like supporting independent businesses but you guys are running a Kickstarter where you're like, "Kickstarter's shipping estimates are inaccurate, just trust us that it won't be that much!" which is not an issue I've run into with any campaign I've contributed to, gaming or otherwise, with companies located both in the U.S. and abroad. There's always a Just Trust Us attached to everything they do.

In short, that's just how our Damien rolls.

This fall on NBC, That's Damien!
I will say from my experience on these boards Damien is pretty consistent. When he has an issue with a toy company or owner, etc., he is pretty open about it a why without holding back. So he is definitely not just on here trolling the 4H. Totally understand how harsh it can come off to someone that is not used to it.

Also for what it’s worth (and I could be wrong because tone is hard to get from posts) Damien seems to be pretty passionate in most his posts both about what things he likes and things he does not. I wouldn’t judge him or the forum solely by the posts in this thread. You at least have to check out the GI Joe threads before passing judgement.

So this is where I am concerned about Neeve’s size. She is pretty large in hand so the old size female heads look pretty small on her to me. At least the one I tried out. If the Druid is sized as the smaller older figures Neeve’s head might look huge on her along with the war paint one. I really hope I am wrong because I love the idea of pairing that figure with the war paint so much that I think I am going to get one to do just that.

The Joe threads have finally chilled out but I feel like everyone needs to get a taste of the Joe threads. There's an entire movement going on over there some of you guys are blissfully unaware of.

The 4H have what's pretty much a cult going on, and an expensive one at that. Sometimes it feels like you can't say anything bad of them or you will be punished. They make some pretty cool action figures, but then go and make some pretty bullshit executive decisions on how to sell them. It almost seems like they go out of their way to make some of these figures hard as fck to get. And of course, their 'loyal fans' eat it all up.

And that's coming from someone who literally has one of their figures as their icon image, I do love the figures I get from them, even if they aren't perfect (seriously their joints keep coming looser and looser, even from newer figures!), but I am tired of their poor business strategies that only seem to benefit their local fans. And said fans defending them like their honor is on the line or something.

Oh Névé is most assuredly enormous compared to the other Mythic ladies and her head will not fit on the Druid body.

What I was saying was I’m going to take that war paint teal hair Neve head and either put it on Neve classic (I bought two knowing I’d want to make a custom muscle mamma) or a $40 Legendary Warrior (and swap some parts to fancy her up a bit) and make a big green Warrior woman to go with the tiny green Magic woman.
