G.I. Joe Head Canon & Fanfic Filecards

Goddamn but I never wanted that figure until now. You prick. Fantastic though. And I'm reminded of the line in Throw Mama From The Train, "The guy in the hat killed the other guy in the hat."

Well shit, I didn't do that on purpose but that's hilarious.

I wasn't sure I wanted Gnawgahyde but their animal companions are SO EFFING GOOD that I had to get him for his sidekicks. He's a very cool figure even without the animals, but a boar and a monkey really seal the deal.

Awesome. Selfishly, because he's a childhood favourite of mine, I love that Gnaw comes off as legitimately kind of scary and dangerous. I also love the idea that he's a 'Nok, but clearly isn't interested in being around them all the time. More a member because he's also an anarchist and it's good to have back-up than because he wants any camaraderie.
In fact, I kind of like the idea more generally that the 'Noks aren't held together by much more than a common feeling of 'ew, rules' and may be on the brink of tearing apart due to their totally different reactions to the Lewis administration.

I think he's on sale on Amazon right now. At least in Canada he is.
I like the figure a fair bit. I do think he suffers from being on a very early body and I bet he'd be better if he were made today but he's still a Classified figure so .. upper mid-tier action figures even at their least good, I would say.

Heh, I discovered that last night... Really considering him. I've been keeping an eye on Road Pig too, to be masked on the shelf, but funny how I'm adding more Dreadnoks that will be something else in my shelf canon to my maybe list.

I will not buy Road Pig until it's v2 and doesn't have that hideous belly tat.

I feel like there's probably a core of 'noks who really do feel like a brotherhood and they stick together in the end, and then you've got guys like Gnawgahyde or maybe Zanzibar who have their own shit to do and were sort of nomadic members to begin with. Anarchy is kind of a tough unifier if you don't have someone directing it (still figuring out where to put Zartan in all this).

Totally, and also - WAIT, WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!?!??!!?!? Don't recognize avatar!!!!!!!
So ironically, I changed my avatar because my eyes are bothering me enough that I was having trouble telling Boba Fett apart from my Pumpkin-Headed Knight avatar and swapped it last night. Not sure I'm settled on Novelist Donatello yet or not.

Thinking about this some... I like the idea of the TV version biker gang. The 'nomad' members that aren't sitting in on every meeting but the 'Noks can call when they need 'em and they're still devoted brothers that will be there. The guys that specialize in doing the dirty work, dealing with the explosives, or even being the 'big picture' guy to keep things on track.
Zartan, in that sense, definitely pulls the leader role of wearing 'every face' (ha!) a little bit. He is, after all, another of those guys that speaks a bunch of languages according to his original file card. He's a guy that knows how to communicate. But also... the file card says he's schizophrenic. But IS he? Or is a guy that can swap faces literally and figuratively and speaks 20 languages also really good at being a lot of different personalities depending on what the situation calls for.
Maybe running a biker gang, dealing with law enforcement and other criminals - all of whom you have to side with or against sometimes flipping between them more than once a in a single day, means you develop a reputation for being schizophrenic that you're glad to foster if it helps with those relationships and having plausible deniability for blowing up that drug den you totally swore you were going to protect THIS MORNING.

Okay.. maybe I went too far with it.
