It already kinda sounds like there are some other folks pulling strings behind the scenes, honestly. Don't get me wrong- he's the very active, very dangerous figurehead, as the president often is, and there's Yes Men out the wazoo there to do his bidding. But he's also basically admitted that there are folks whispering in his ear things that aren't true- things like telling him "such-and-such city is a dangerous cesspool of crime" and so forth. Granted, it could just be some aides or secretaries or fellow congressmen with a grudge, but it does seem like there are many others charting the course, if not outright steering the ship. I think there are definitely those Wormtongues who can whisper in his ear because they know he's relatively weak and doesn't know a damn thing about politics, so they can get their own twisted agendas through if they're careful enough. I can't imagine he cares about any of them in the slightest, and none of them respect Vance like they do him, so I could certainly see a Game of Thrones-esque power vacuum where they're all fighting for the title and claiming they were his favorite because X. That's when I can see a lot of secrets coming out, honestly- people trying to oust the competition so they can rise in the ranks rather quickly, or to save their asses from prosecution.
