General Marvel Legends

The word y’all are looking for is “dipsomaniac”.

Trust me, I’m an addiction expert.
🤡

"Dipsomaniac" is now a new favorite word. (Not actually new. It originated in the 19th century. But I've never heard it before so to me it's a new word.)

So as I can't stop playing with my wildly overpriced but still very fun Man-Wolf - I know it's (arguably?) more iconic to portray Werewolf by Night in the Lon Chaney style wolfed out look but I know a lot of ocmics over the years have gone with the long-snouted wolf-head version, too. Think there's any chance they reuse this buck (wolf head, furry arms, monster feat, furry legs) with a new torso and give us comic book Jack Russell? I feel like there's no way they put this kind of work into articulating a wolf head so well and not reuse it. (Personally I love WbN enough I'd buy both versions/looks of him, but then again I'm like, eternally on a quest for the next good werewolf figure.)

Well, Werewolf By Night has been on the rumored list for awhile. Maybe we'll see him at NYCC next weekend. Ya never know.

Just piecing together the leaks, what has been revealed, and what we're still waiting on I wouldn't be surprised to see the rest of that wave at NYCC.

I knew he was on the docket for a future release in the rumor mill, but now I wonder if we're getting a fully-wolfed-out version (I assumed we'd get the old school wolfman style since that fits with Legends design more).

I'd have to think that the (presumed) Executioner BAF wave with Werewolf by Night, Phantom Rider, WWII Logan, Mark 72 Iron Man, Enchantress, Warbow and Ai Apaec dark Spidey are the most likely reveal at SDCC. They've already shown a couple of them. This seems to be the popular time of year to announce these hodgepodge waves. If this lineup is what it's rumored to be then it's a pretty good one. The only one that I likely wouldn't want is WW2 Logan so hopefully that one doesn't have the BAF, but I expect it to be Iron Man that doesn't.

Two things about the rumored BAF wave:

1) If Werewolf By Night is in it and he is the comic version, I can see him having two-three heads:

Classic Jack Russel - old school, Lon Chaney-ish. This one is the given head that will be in it.

Jake Gomez - more wolf like. Remember years ago when Dan interviewed the guy that created this version of WBN during PulseCon and we were all so sure that meant a WBN figure was surely going to be revealed and that never happened? I can totally see Dan pushing for the modern head to be part of this offering.

MCU version - we've never had a dedicated hybrid MCU/comic figure, have we? Well, this could be the one that starts it off.

2) If Phantom Rider is the actual included character, I won't complain because he would be Day #1 instant purchase for me. However, if it is actually a misprint for any Ghost Rider, including Robbie Reyes, I'll be disappointed, and if it's the character shown below - Jamie Slade, I'll bitch and moan a lot.

Got the Walmart exclusive Spider-Men and... the Gamerverse one is expectedly lame. I guess the colors are subjectively better, but it's a re-release of a figure I don't think people were especially excited about originally on a body that felt somehow dated when it released a few years ago. So that's a fun one.

The Gala Spider-Man is... fine for a costume that appeared in maybe 2 issues of a story and era I don't really care much about. Looks cool, I guess. Really like the body for Spider-Man figures. I wonder what is actually stopping Hasbro from releasing a standard blue/red version on this body with the 6 staple hands, and a Peter Parker head. Flood the market with them. You won't find them on the shelf in a few months. Maybe days. Instead they re-release the pretty brutal MCU FFH Spider-Man in overwhelming numbers and wondering why they're not moving.

Gala Spider-Man is also an interesting case, as along with the Fantastic Four 2 pack version, it's a 'modern' Spider-Man on the smaller body. The AF15 and Amazing Friends release fit for me as a teen-era classic build... with the RYV and Max being more adult in height. Obviously a Max Spider-Man release that is less artist specific would be on the new larger body... but I wonder if most releases for Spidey should skew toward the AF15 body size for continuity on the shelf. Saturday musings as I find a spot for Gala Spider-Man on the shelf.

I'd be ok if we got this primarily because it would make Shooting Star and Outlaw 500% more likely.

I would LOVE Jim McCann's Hawkeye and Mockingbird figures. Sadly, it is not. And it's DEFINITELY not Robbie.
