MAFEX DC Figures

Robin is the last Mafex I have preordered, so I'll be happy to get him to finish my Hush display. I'd love an OG Bart Impulse so I could have a small Young Justice display, but that ain't likely to happen.
It is more or less my mind's eye iconic enough to be the quintessential Tim. I always think of the suit blueprint at the end of his original mini series.

Robin and Iceman are my last MAFEX pre-orders. That's liable to change if they ever reveal figures from the Matrix license. I have a long Marvel wishlist still, too. It'd be nice to get some damn Spider-Man villains.

All that said, I feel like I'm winding down on MAFEX figures. I'm in a similar spot with them as I was with Mezco in 2019. I've only purchased two Mezco figures since then.

There was a time I had every MCU and DCEU release. I had all of the TDK Trilogy figures. I started to get into the comics based stuff, the Batman Hush line, the Marvel releases, etc.
I had all the John Wick stuff, I had the Kingsmen figures. I had the Robocop stuff. Even had the Pennywise from It release.

Sold it all.

Currently sitting with The Boys line, the Return of Superman comic figures, and the Terminator releases. I currently only have the remaining Terminator figures on PO, and was planning on getting the DP&W stuff, but it feels superfluous after the excellent Hasbro releases.

Otherwise, I can no longer justify it. Not when other companies are doing it better and for far cheaper, or at least more bang for your buck.

Rogue and Jubilee basically wind down my Mafex X-Men journey. I don't have faith (or patience) they'll wrap up the blue team with Beast, and Colossus and Archangel and Bishop are a long way for Gold. There was even a point last month I debated just running with the 97 squad as my X-Men rep. That's basically all my nostalgia right there.

Blue was always my initial goal and I can call it done with the Hasbro lab coat Beast. I'll finish Gold as it happens, but I think they're overall queue of what's to come is writing checks their asses can't cash. Certainly with what we've heard about their shift with CT toys competition, but even if that's not true I can just look at the delays and what they put on the platter.

Similarly, I was never a Hush completionist and most of those figures are because they were the only game in town anyway (Ivy, Huntress... Batman once upon a time). I have Bruce and Clark on order, but unless I get a Talia or Lois, I can also call that done.

The reality is the whole hobby has changed since quarantine, with options, pricing, and what we should expect art and engineering wise from everyone. This isn't just a declaration on Mafex, I'm finding myself less satisfied with most of my usual lines. I am still forever annoyed that they reversed the X23 colours despite releasing that figure while after the movie being out, and now Kitty.

End of the day, I'm just having more fun with third party things, and all the companies need to start courting us, not the other way around.

Yep. I've wanted a super-articulated Batman since I was about five years old. MAFEX was the gateway. I don't have any affinity for Hush, either.

For a long time, MAFEX was the only game in town, but I'd argue they were also the best game in town. I would've backed them as the best toy line from 2019 to 2024. After the DD/Cap/Phoenix releases, they fell off a cliff. Worse engineering, higher prices, and fewer accessories. Every MAFEX figure I've gotten since then has been adequate. It looks like Iceman will recapture that old magic, but he's literally the only one.

In 2024, six of my top 11 figures were MAFEX releases. In 2025, I just retroactively bumped their only entry on my top 10 for the Marvel Legends Deathbird.

I agree with all of that. Simpatico.

My Cap pops apart at the waist just touching it. Haven't found a solution, but I don't wanna sell him because I love Cap. But in the wake of the oh so playable Gamerverse, rough. I'm also not a fan of his portraits, very soft. I know what it's sourced in, it just doesn't sing like the Hush or X-Men or Daredevil.
