MAFEX DC Figures

I almost posted that here yesterday. He also claims that their obsession with CT Toys is to blame for Rogue's delays. They're dedicating their factories to re-releases instead.

If it's true, it's incredibly stupid. People who buy CT Toys don't want MAFEX figures, they want MAFEX figures at Marvel Legends prices.

Dumb strategy. I haven't bought anything from CT, but if I did it wouldn't be because I can't get the Mafex...it would be because I can't afford it and want a "close enough" option.

I've bought one Mafex, and two CT figures. Mafex Gambit, and both Ben Reilly designs that CT toys has done. The way I purchased them just doesn't compare. "Every Legends Gambit is terrible, I'll save up for a while and the Mafex one when I can." vs "Ohhhhh shit, a figure better than Legends for cheaper than Mafex OR Legends? I'm buying two the moment my paycheck hits!"

If Mafex were $60, I'd buy a few. If they made a subline that's similar in cost to Storm Arena, I'd buy plenty. At $90 or more, you better be a character (or design) I would sell a kidney for. There's a much larger amount of people willing to buy $20 figures than there are for $100 figures.

If anyone should keep CT in mind, it's the Legends team-- not in a "Fuck, let's scramble to do damage control and get the characters they're doing back out there!" way, but in a way where they should start trying to bring some of the most appealing elements of import releases into their releases in some manner to bridge the gap and reduce the desire for something like CT toys. The accessory spread of Jada figures and import style articulation of the upcoming MOTU movie and Jada figures come to mind.

Yeah, I think that if there was a regular Daredevil in the Legends line, CT wouldn't even be on the table for a lot of people I know. But there isn't, and that was the gateway to them learning about everything else they could get. Same for Scarlet Spidey.

I might get Bruce (he looks acceptably dapper) but Clark looks like he dresses at Sears, I cannot possibly have a man so unstylish on my shelves.

I would assume that Bruce and Clark would mostly do their shopping at whatever the equivalent department and clothing stores in Gotham and Metropolis are to places like Bergdorf Goodman and Brooks Brothers

Availability and price led to CT getting a firm foothold. MAFEX is sacrificing those two aspects of future figures to win yesterday's battle over past figures.

I think there were initially a lot of people jumping on the CT Toys Wolverine due to availability of the MAFEX so I can see why they would react to that. However, basing your whole release strategy around some bootleg company feels shortsighted.

So HLJ charged me last night for the Knightmare Batman. When I went to check out and ship via DHL (willing to pay a premium to have the figure ASAP), there was a message about their warehouse being backed up and to expect a significant delay in shipping.

Anyone have any intel/recent experience with shipping from HLJ??
