General Marvel Legends

It likely all depends on how secretive Marvel is being. Hasbro probably sees better sales of MCU product in anticipation of the movie's release, but if they don't have access to designs then they can't pull it off and lose interest internally and at retail. D&W could be the model if that's the case where Hasbro just dips their toe in the waters initially and then comes back with a filler wave if sales are good.

Yeah, but that also means unless movies make a billion, then I won't get the characters I actually want. The BND wave is likely just gonna be a Spidey, Punisher, and a Hulk. God forbid some of us want Scorpion and we gotta wait like 2 years! Still waiting on that High Evolutionary everyone told me was surely going to be made, amongst others. So, my overall investment in what they're giving the MCU collector is very much at MEH for me

Oh yeah, not every MCU is gonna get that retroactive treatment. Had we not gotten, say, all the Eternals in one go, we'd still be missing probably at least 3 or 4 of them- Kro too. And considering all the other semi-recent omissions too- High Evolutionary, Razor Fist, Werewolf by Night, etc.- even the more well-received projects can still go without full representation. And it's hard to know if they're doing more Deadpool figures because of the reception to the movie, or because a lot of the included characters- Deadpool, Wolverine, Blade- are pretty good sellers just on their own. Same with Spidey- the only thing that gives me even a little hope that we may see more than the aforementioned 3 are the fact that Spidey things always sell (though we still never got Shocker from Homecoming).

Definitely gonna be interesting to see how things are going forward for MCU releases. I can't imagine every project is gonna have a ton of secrecy around it, and if Marvel/Disney does want to start getting on good graces with a lot of fans again, more transparency and more merch being available at release would certainly help.

They have given me as a MCU collector no reason to care about this line recently lol
I have a feeling you will be feasting around the last quarter of the year.

EDIT: Typed this aright after I read your post. Didn't realize there were so many similar posts like mine after it.

It's interesting times. Like they just killed Buffy today. And Hulu is owned by Disney so to me it's relevant. The most ardent Disney defender I know responded to one of my quips about Corporations being Poor with a dissertation on how Disney has wasted a lot of money on initiatives and projects that don't pan out so they probably are recouping money everywhere they can, and we should probably expect to see this reflected in Marvel product as well.

Really the worst part is realising how well we were eating before the dark times.

I can tell you the lack of getting those gap fillers is making me not care as much about new movie product

This seems like it would have been the perfect year to 18 months to do a gap-filler MCU wave or two and get caught up before Doomsday and keep the collectors interested.
This does make me wonder if all the Eternals and Disney+ figures sitting at Ross for over a year has made Hasbro worried about TV/Movie action figure sales.

And while that may be, I still expect a couple waves toward the end of the year, and if they sell well, see them doing an extra run like they did with, was it Black Panther?

How could it not? But I assume it is also the retailers like Target and Walmart that are gun shy about Legends and we see it with the limited shelf space and stock they carry. I think the combination of the windowless packaging, price increases and lack of interest in those waves must have caused sales to plummet. Hard to know how much, if any, makegoods Hasbro had to do with their main retailers, including taking back product that ended up at Ross and Ollies. Over a year ago an Ollies I visited had more Legends than I ever saw at one time in single store, including Toys R Us, in the line's heyday. In retrospect I wonder if the line would have survived if not for the Galactus HasLab doing insane numbers...

I think the pandemic impact on many businesses are still being felt and still not fully known - many took on or restructured debt just to stay afloat that I think is still partly on the balance sheets. Disney was without theme park, cruise line, hotel and movie theater revenue for over a year.

Right now, I think it very likely I won't get any of the BND figures if we end up getting a Spidey, Punisher, and Hulk only wave. Doomsday we shall see. I am not excited for the movie, but I will get Doom at least. But outside those 2 movie waves, unless there is a leak I missed somewhere, what else is really coming? So I don't really see a feast here

Only other thing that's been more or less confirmed is another Deadpool wave, or at least a few more figures. Hasn't been outright confirmed, but was heavily hinted at during the reveal. I'm sure we can at least count on a handful more- Elektra being the most notable omission.

Agreed on the BND figures. It's really gonna depend on how different the figures are from the last ones. I know the BND suit isn't quite the same as the Final Swing suit, but I've yet to really see a side-by-side of all the differences. Having just gotten the Born Again Punisher not that long ago, it's gonna depend on how much his costume has really changed. I may be tempted by Hulk, depending; the only Hulk I have in my collection is the old AoU Hulk from the 2 pack; never got anything after that. I'd love to think that Scorpion is a certainty, even if he comes long after the movie, but given how much Electro seemed to pegwarm in places, it makes me wonder if they're a bit more wary to take chances now, especially if Scorpion is a smaller part than Electro was. Then again, I can't imagine Michael Mando's likeness rights being as tricky as they were for Foxx.

I've seen a few people mention still wanting Shocker - but he was barely in that movie! And wasn't his costume a hoodie?

I'm not knocking the desire - I have my own list of hopeless wants - but I don't get why this particular look endures. Except I do really enjoy Logan Marshall-Green and wouldn't say no to a figure (well, a second figure).

Definitely a bit part, as was Tinkerer (remember him?), but had the unique distinction of being played by 2 people. Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me which version they give us, or if they include both heads, or if they go the same route that the basic kid's line for Homecoming did and make an original version that skews closer to the original comic design. Heck, they made a little mini-figure of him for the Disney Store set, but I'll probably have to go the custom route like others have done for a Legends scale version. Just one of those weird little nitpicks of mine- it's a bummer to have every live action Spidey baddie in figure form except for one (in the MCU, at least- I don't have the New Goblin figure from back in the day).

Today is the last day to get your Marvelous Women Wish Lists in.
I'll be tabulating late tonight to create the poll for tomorrow.

Stopped by Wallgreens this morning and saw that Baron Zemo, who has been sitting on their shelf for literal YEARS at full price next to original wave Rogue 1 figures (which are STILL full price), they marked Zemo down to $15. I snapped him up. I'd decided I'd only ever get him on discount, because I think he's a good looking figure, but I don't have enough attachment to him to pay full price. He's good for a basic figure. I like that I can get him to hit a very respectable fencing salute pose. Feels right if he's going up against a dude with a shield.
