X-Men '97

Found a lone plain clothes Wolverine at Target today, with a $20 MotU figure, I purchased both and qualified for $10 off. It would be grand if I could find the rest of the wave and apply the sale.

That Apocalypse is amazing. Now do I sell the retro one to help make space for this one lol.

That's the Apocalypse I've wanted since I was a kid. I even got that projector version because he was bigger than a standard figure. I'm going to have to appease that kid inside of me and order this one. I love that they're going so hard into X-Men 97. I hope this means my dream of a toon version of Sabretooth is still possible.

Don't do that...

Don't get me wishin'...

I can't help but hear his voice monologuing when I look at this picture.

That X-Men cartoon really did perma-cast certain characters for me.

Anyhow, this figure looks wonderful and a great center for the display. I've yet to unbox my vintage card Apocalypse (I'm a slow opener, you see.) But now I'm going to go on some long walks to determine whether I should go with the VC or PO this new guy. The scale is really something, and I really really regret passing on the '97 Sentinel. Fingers crossed Hasbro has a couple extra in stock when they arrive.

Might not want to make that mistake again with Apocalypse.

Agreed, Misfit, their care for X-Men '97 is fantastic. I don't have many from the line, since I also collect MAFEX and I'm kind of a one figure per character per costume collector. But the quality seems to be a cut above the average Legend. The recent Emma Frost, while simple enough, is beautifully matte, has great head sculpts, and poses beyond what I need from Emma (though I might try to pop and dremel the waist to get a bit more bend)

I did hear a rumor that MAFEX has Sabertooth on their to-do short list. He's likely to be a win, but may not be quite as bulky as the animated version.

I'm definitely interested in a Medicom Sabretooth, though I definitely won't get my hopes up. A lot of their figures are too slight for my tastes in general (Hush Batman, Venom), but they've shown a willingness to do chunkier characters.

Damn you Hasbro! You're going to make me cave, aren't you? I'm going to try to hold off, though. I still have the Toybiz one in my Diorama setup. I don't need another that size, even though this has so many options. I think even if I did hold off, if extra's became available like Dragon Man, I'd cave, so I'll likely still get this now. Ugh.

$119.99.

I don't need this Apocalypse as I'm generally happy to have him at a smaller stature, and I don't have a dedicated TAS display. It's still a dope figure though, and I'm definitely tempted to order anyway. The price doesn't seem outrageous to me.

Not a great price, but not terrible either. That's where Hasbro mostly lands for me. At any rate, yeah, ordered. He's going to fit in even better than the previously released retro card figure.

The retro card reuses a lot of the BAF Apocalypse, so there are details that shouldn't be there. It's honestly kinda phoned in. If you have a choice, go with this MTO figure. It looks better in every way.

Yeah, retro card got a new chest that's smoother and more toon-like, but the arms are still big and veiny and only one portrait was new. This definitely hits that toon aesthetic a lot better and it helps that there's not a whole lot separating 97 Apocalypse from the 92 one.
