U.S. Politics

I do not believe the election was rigged, but I was genuinely shocked when Harris lost. Trump's half-empty rallies, lack of small-dollar donors, and absent ground game pointed to a Harris blowout. I haven't been able to square those things with a Trump win, let alone a popular vote win. I wouldn't be surprised if it were rigged, but I think the likelier explanation is our information environment.

Please excuse my tenth rant about this topic. Our media and social media ecosystems are owned by billionaires with a vested interest in Republican politics. Local news is dead. Community spaces are gone. Most of our political journos are megalomaniacs who are more concerned with the horse race and keeping things "fresh and exciting" than communicating the life and death stakes.

The results are plain for all to see.

I think that was part of the problem people assumed Harris capable and Trump was the worst decision let their guard down and many didn't vote. Also some didn't vote because they didn't like either.

F YOU Duffy! It's been mass chaos since Trump took office in January

so an invisible man driving?

totally kidnapping people

Republican is synonymous with Trump so yes you were on the ballot
still ignorant on what communism is

Part of me WANTS to believe they rigged the election, but the larger part of me is more convinced that we are set up in a way that enables the worst people in the world to have a greater influence and that we also grossly underestimated how large a percentage of people are just cruel, selfish, and willing to chew off their own nose to spite their face. I really don't know what feels worse: living in a rigged society or facing the fact that a far larger percentage of the people we have to share this rock hurtling through space with really want the worst for other people, and for themselves.

Both can be true.
You can only successfully rig an election in a place like the US if you have, at the very least, a large enough minority for having a majority to be believable.

FWIW, MTG has one deficit Trump doesn't and it makes a huge difference with that crowd (and, unfortunately, America in general). Like, if there's anything we've learned in the past 15 years it's that America is just about as sexist as it is racist (though it's a photo finish).

The paper signs are... sure something. And yeah, it sure does feel like dementia sign posting. I had that thought earlier. I really wonder how much he's being held together with spit and baling wire.
