Star Wars Retro Collection

Didn't see a forum for this line and wanted to jump in to rage that the canceled ANH set that Target mass-canceled on everyone is popping up in and out of stock on their site. I was resigned to not getting it and kind of fine with that, but now I want it out of spite.
 
I can't believe they canceled all online orders, then started letting them trickle out at stores. Unfuckingbelievable. So now obviously I'm haunting two targets every other day to see if they got the set in.
 
Yeah. I'm both pissed off but also... of course I'm going to check the toy aisle for this set for months.
 
This set is going in and out of stock. Best to check in the wee hours of the morning, around 5am-7am Eastern.

I scored one online a few days ago and it arrived today. I also scored one this morning online, so that'll be my opener.

I'm happy to get about half of these figures. Ceremony Luke, Fleet Trooper, Sandtrooper, all dope. I would love seconds of each of the troop builders to open, but this set is annoyingly scarce already. The others, I like that they made Evazan and Walrus Man, but I wish that either Walrus Man was modified more to look like his film appearance with the orange jacket and brown pants, or Evazan was randomly wrong to match Walrus Man's vintage look. Then there's Han in disguise. I think I'd appreciate him more if I actually had Luke to go with him, but that is extremely unlikely. If I do luck into another set, I might try to customize a Luke from the extra Han. For now, Han will probably just be another Stormtrooper.
 
I'm in it mostly for the Sandtrooper and Rebel Trooper. I wish Luke's head looked like farm boy Luke for continuity sake, I wonder how hard it is to do a swap. Evazan is a welcome addition. I don't care at all about Walrus Man, one inaccurate version of him is enough. I have both Han and Luke Stormtroopers from Stan Solo already. Got them both when they were regular price, now they're both around $100 on the aftermarket. I'm interested in doing a quality comparison on the two Hans. Stormtrooper Luke has to be on Hasbro's radar but if they're just releasing these in six packs now then we have to wait until they cycle back around to doing A New Hope again.

Would people want Tarkin released again or did his game-pack-in status get everyone their fix?

I don't follow Stan Solo much, but I thought the stuff he was making has always been pretty cool.
 
I'm in a vintage Star Wars FB group and I will say that if you've seen one picture of this set in the font seat of a grown man's car, you've seen them all. It's kind of a fascinating phenomena, actually. That NEED to post a picture of your find before you even get it home to its display spot (or probably into a closet for a lot of folks if we're bing honest) for the affirmation of internet strangers. Anyway, judging by the amount of these pictures I'm seeing, you'll be able to get this set soon if you want one. Hype driven by canceled preorder: successful!
 
Bonus points if they take the picture with it sitting on their lap in the car and you also get a peek at pasty, hairy thigh.

Did Hasbro ever do Figrin D'an in Retro? That would be a good one to finally get to, but locking him in a six pack when he should *be* a six pack is an odd choice.
 
It was back up for preorder online and then gone again in the time it took me to be annoyed that it was back up for preorder.
 
I'm trying to talk myself into returning the New Hope set and put $70 back in my pocket. My feelings about it are strictly mid (as the kids say).
I don't like inaccurate Walrus Man. I own the vintage one for nostalgia's sake alone, that's more than enough.
Evazan is good but I would only display him paired with vintage Walrus Man, who I don't like. (Plus a pair of figures that are 50% accurate makes little sense to me).
Not a fan of Luke's head.
I have Stan Solo ST Han.
That leaves the two troopers who, ideally, I'd get multiples of, but I'm NOT tracking down and paying for multiples of this set. And also, though I don't own him, I might like the Stan Solo Rebel Trooper a bit more anyway. The solution of course is for Hasbro to sell these singly again, but it appears these all-or-nothing 6 packs is their new format for this line
That's where I'm at. I'm on day number four of this set sitting in my car.
 
I'm not super anxious about getting the set either. If I find it discounted I'd unhesitatingly grab it, but I'm barely watching the preorder anymore. I wanted yellow-jacketed Luke and the troopers, but I can live without.

I also keep hoping the six pack from the Acolyte goes on sale like the Black Series figures did, but I think it might fade into obscurity.
