Born on the cob
Pecker Tripple is a fantastic Star Wars hero name. I can totally see him as the cocky (see what I did there?) hotshot pilot. Team him up with Porkins for endless fun- Pecker and Porkins. Peck and Jek.
Finally got around to messing around with the latest wave, and I'm really liking them. Don't know if there's a clear favorite- I really like Quinlan and, surprisingly, Kyle. Don't really know much about either, but maybe that's what's leading to my enjoyment- they feel fun and new. Kyle especially- something about dual wielding a saber and blaster was always so badass to me. There's nothing wrong with Seventh Sister or Dooku, they just feel a little more on the plain/familiar side side. I do wish 7S had a bit more range in her legs- the skirt keeps her from getting too dynamic. While I'm appreciative they threw in the droid, I think it really would've benefitted from some sort of smaller flight stand. I do like her mask/helmet, though. The separate face place works really well. I wish the helmet itself was a little more tightly fitting, but that's just a little nerdy nitpick.
I'm thankful for the fanned blades too- a little more bang for your buck- but I do worry about how they'll hold up over time. The heavier ones especially, like on Quinlan and 7S- they just weigh things down so much. The pegs themselves start to sag a bit, and they put pressure on the joints of the figure, which I'd imagine would get a bit looser over time (though maybe not as egregiously as the old joints). The smaller fans on Dooku and Kyle aren't quite as bad, though still a little heavy. Maybe if they made them hollow pieces, versus solid plastic?
I'm still a bit torn on the new wrists as well- I like them, but I do miss the range of the old swivel-hinge joints, even if they didn't necessarily look entirely natural at times. But if they can find a way to give a tiny bit more range in the wrists- whether making the socket a little wider or whatever- then I think I'd like them a little more. But I'd also worry about them loosening to the point of being unusable after a while. Don't know what the solution is.
Still, a really fun, really solid wave. Some really great improvements have been made to the line in the last year or so that make me really excited for the future of the line. I'm eager to see what, if any, of the new things have been added to the new Plo. He and Kit are still awesome figures, but they do stand out a bit just because of the older bodies. Plo's my fav Jedi, so having an updated version with the newer body would be a dream.
