Star Trek

Very clunky, not useful, not very smooth, loose knees. Old Toy Biz style ball hips that actually don't have the greatest movement or range to begin with. Tails that are just one solid hard plastic piece on a ball joint (which makes it difficult to have the BIKER MICE sit on their bikes all the way). The wrists are that McFarlane style ball offering that was unpainted or even cast in the proper color of the wrist bands or gloves, so they stick out like a sore thumb.

When they originally showed them off, they didn't have, I'd say, about 50% of the articulation that they ended up with. Thanks to fan feedback/criticisms--something that I absolutely will credit Nacelle on, their willingness to hear the fans--they went back in and added the articulation.

But the problem is, they didn't start from scratch, they again did the old McFarlane method of cutting the articulation into the sculpts that they already have, and that just does NOT work.
Appreciate this breakdown.

@RicksNerdLife, I went back and looked at those pictures with what you said in mind. I see what you mean specifically on Archer's bicep. It's that exact calf-cut on Marvel Legends that I hate so much. The sculpt lines up in one position only, and if you twist it at all, it gets all jagged. Waist cuts too.

Like Gothneo and fac, I'm not looking for ninja articulation on Spock, but that seems pretty basic.

These don't fair too well against modern competition, especially at the price, but they look fine, have charm and promise a depth that is very attractive. A solid collection of characters is a miracle these days. I'd be content with this quality if my particular niche was covered.

This was one of the figures I was most looking forward to. Matches well with the Kirk from the DST line with the bloody handprint on his uniform. But the paint apps are not bringing out the sculpts as well as they could it seems like, and the skin tone difference between the neck and face is disappointing, as is the height of the neck. I realize he needs a bloody, ungloved hand as well...

Would be nice to get a Scotty in his engineering suit to match at some point, and a McCoy in his main Doctor look as well.

Wrath of Khan is peak Trek, so no matter what happy to get this figure.

Well... can't say I'd put that Preston out front on my display, I agree with others that the sculpt seems to be there, but the paint is the issue. The suit is too clean looking IMO... some paint to accent the wrinkles and wear would have been great. The scarred head, while a nice idea, just doesn't look right on the figure. Not that I'm a fan of variants... but this is a real case where a variant paint deco is needed.

He looks like he is an animated figure, or rather a figure based on an animated character. Also yes the white is too white and uniform. It needs a wash or, as you said, some accent paint to break it up a bit and make it look less animated/fake.

All the face sculpts seem to be the biggest problem. None of them look anywhere near as good as the prototypes, or up to snuff for a general release. It seems like a case of the factory not being able to execute on that one specific part of production.

That final face sculpt and paint look like Hasbro Star Wars and Indiana Jones figures circa 2014-2016!! Giant egg eyes, ridiculous eyebrows and that's it for paint - and what's there is all bad. Yikes.

My Nacelle figures are on the way and I'm excited! Got a shipping notice from Fedex, nothing from Nacelle. The sender is "Aeronet Worldwide, Inc. LAX" with no reference to the name Nacelle, but the Reference and Invoice number fields match my Nacelle order number.

I had the same notification last week, and mine arrived Friday afternoon without any warning from Nacelle. I had ordered Sulu and Valkris. I haven't opened them yet, just looked at them through the package.

I don't remember Valkris from the movie, but it's been a long time since I've seen them. I bought her for the Genesis torpedo, which looks pretty great so I'm happy there. Maybe she'll look better out of the package, but her face is leaving a lot to be desired. The paint doesn't look quite finished, and her eyes sort of look like someone dabbed a little white paint on there, hit a black dot for the center, and went along to the next one. Again, this is in-package, so maybe it's better in hand, but so far she looks pretty rough and not a whole lot like the render on the packaging.

Sulu looks pretty good though! I know this is Captain Sulu and he's older, but I bought him simply to put him with the others for an eventual "group shot" of the OG's in their red uniforms. From what I can see, his sculpt is much nicer than Valkris - better/smoother paint and more attention to detail.

I don't have any of the old DST Star Trek figures, but these definitely remind me a lot of older DST stuff like the Dark Tower figures they did, and early Marvel stuff. Sculpt is there but some weak paints. Fun accessories.

I'm looking forward to cracking them open, but it might be a bit. Valkris is worth it for the Genesis Torpedo, if nothing else. That's a great display piece I never thought I'd get hands on, without 3D printing one.

1st impressions: Packaging is nice, and the Valkris is def has a feel of a deluxe figure as the packaging is twice as large as all the others.
The paints are not perfect but, here's a photo along side a DST kit bash I did for a Capt Sulu.
The paint on the head seems to "muted"? its missing good eyelash definition. The difference between the neck and head skin paint is also noticeable and the head ball joint sits high so when you rotate the head it's very visible.

But the articulation, while not fantastic is a great update from DST which was minimal. also... the tunic color is notably different... I'm thinking Nacelle is closer to right? as are the pip details and placement.

The array of accessories is nice and well done. though the interchangeable tunic bit doesn't seem to fit quite right. nice idea needs some tweaking.

Overall, I like this Figure inspite of its flaws and deem it a great update to my kit-bashed stand-in.
