One A Day 2.0: Day #197 - Whiplash (Vanko, including MCU)

Catching up:

Scarecrow/Strawman- HELL YES TO BOTH! Kinda shocked neither has made it to the line yet, ESPECIALLY Naughton!

Red Shift- He has a cool look, but he's not a necessity. Maybe on clearance.

Blazing Skull- He's too fun to pass up! Yes, for sure!

Whiplash- The Blacklash iteration is good enough for me. I'd pass on this version.
 
Yeah, I really want that comic Whiplash from the first few pictures. I even have one of the kids figures that Hasbro did of him that you can swap parts form (Super Hero Mashers). It's the only one of those that I ever bought. He is 6".... LOL


I also bought the ZD Toys Mark 2 MCU Whiplash. It's not terrible.

 
Definitely want all the Whiplash looks in figure form! Highest priority for me is the MCU Whiplash Mark 2 (fully armored), since that is apparently as close as we will ever get to seeing an MCU Crimson Dynamo.

I’d enthusiastically buy MCU racetrack Whiplash and the comic Vanko Whiplash as well.

I wish. But they canceled it, right? It would be hard to work without Iron Man in the story anyway…

Kind of crazy that the MCU has used so many Iron Man villains that never got to actually interact with him…

@Akatsuki agreed. But also with Armor Wars, I forget now but was it officially announced? Meaning, maybe it's not officially cancelled either heh. But I don't think they ever said anything definitive about it not happening, just a writing on the wall thing. I know it's not Iron Man but I really wanted a War Machine solo story.
 
I'm happy with the classic comic version we got but MCU collectors should definitely get a Whiplash figure. Although I remember Mickey Rourke was very unhappy with his whole Marvel experience, so maybe likeness rights would be an issue? Even if Hasbro legally could use his likeness from the old contracts they may not want to get him fired up about it in public.
 
Evidently the script for Armor Wars was very Skrull heavy following the Secret Invasion storyline with Rhodey and well, that's been dropped. Ironheart was supposed to factor in also, and well - that may have been dropped also. There was supposed to be some storyline around the legacy of Tony, but we're getting pretty far removed from Endgame at this point...

The last update that I saw online from YouTube channel "insiders" was that they'd still like to do something with Armor Wars eventually but it would have to be a completely new script and was probably being put off until after end of the multiverse saga now. We'll likely have brand new Iron Man and War Machine actors at that point (post Secret Wars reset).
