Muppets (including The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock)

Honestly every line not getting to the "scraping the bottom of the barrel" point these days is not a bad thing. I don't need everything to be the '87 TMNT line because that just gets me in financial trouble. If it's not being made then I'm not tempted to buy it.

How much does slow releases hurt sales for a line? I haven't been collecting long enough to have a good sense of how important maintaining momentum is for maintaining sales. I assume there is a sweet spot for release timing where collectors aren't overwhelmed but also don't lose interest. It seems like we're in a contraction period in action figures, where there are fewer and fewer new figures coming out from most companies. I just hope that doesn't create a spiral of fewer releases and lower interest/sales.

In addition to wanting the NECA Sesame Street line to persist and increase release pace, I am also eager for Boss Fight Studio to announce another wave of Fraggle Rock figures. I really want the classic Mokey shown in the interview with Veebs. Was that back in the spring? I assume both BFS and NECA have slowed figure production, like many companies seem to have done. I hope it's just a slow down and not a stop. Keep it rolling, please!

It certainly doesn't help.

There are key elements that destroy toylines:

1)Long gaps between releases.
2)Super long and repeated delays/pushing back release dates.
3)Lack of communication from companies.
4)Long preorder windows.

Those 4 things will murder lines more than anything else. Destroyed interest and faith and all that. That's why a lot of companies are implementing shorter announce times, or trying to. Putting their product out like...AS it's ready to ship, i.e; Mezco.

At the end of the interview (last 5 minutes or so), the Boss Fight Studio folks say they have more Fraggle figures planned. That's not really an update, since they showed an early prototype of classic Mokey months ago. But, it's nice to get some confirmation that they haven't scrapped plans. Hopefully, we see the next figures soon.

Any guesses for new Muppet figures we'll see at NYCC this weekend? Will there be any new reveals for NECA, Blokees, or Super7 (or another company)? I could see NECA showing Cookie Monster (or another new character), but they already have 5 figures that have been shown without solicits.

Does anyone know what's going on with NECA's Sesame Street line? Last year at NYCC, I think they showed Big Bird, Oscar, and Herry, none of which have even been solicited. I've heard Children's Workshop can be tough for getting approvals. Maybe that's causing delays. I don't like the parallels to when DST showed Deadly and Pepe multiple years in a row with the figures getting released (yet). I haven't collected a NECA line before. Are they often slow with releases?

Good rule of thumb with NECA is if something was shown at a show or con, and we've not seen any preorders yet...

...expect it for Haulathon or Collector Con.

I'm guessing Big Bird will be offered up in the Spring at Target as a first to market exclusive.

Some of the dates NECA has listed, combined with the small showing at SDCC, has me thinking they did indeed have a big pause in production because of the tariff stuff. They're basically going to go a year between releases on this Sesame Street line which I think it performing well for them, though I may be influenced by the reception it gets around here.

NECA showing Frazzle and Sherlock Hemlock gives me renewed hope the line is going strong and will get to all or most of the characters I want. Hopefully, there aren't more big delays like we're in now. Maybe it is tariff driven and resolved. It'd be a shame if delays continue to plague the line.

Frazzle wasn't on my wishlist, but Sherlock is. I'll definitely be ordering both. I think I'd only skip the characters introduced after 2000. Although, maybe I'd still get them.
