Mondo

Turts burgled. I can't believe I just spent nearly $65 a piece on two horrendous figures. Ah well.

Kids and I blasted through Over the Garden Wall last night. Very charming mini series, good characters, kids liked the humor. Seemed like there was just enough spookiness to the visuals for a kid like my daughter who isn't much into getting scared. More importantly, I liked it, but not enough to get sucked into toys so I wasn't on Mondo's website last night throwing money down on more toys.

Got the Adventure Time boys in earlier this week. I peeked through the window box... they're fucking massive. They're bobblehead size. I'm not really sure what to do with them. Between Finn, Jake, BMO, Marceline, PB, and the two Over the Garden Wall kids, they'll occupy at least half a shelf. I didn't plan to allocate nearly that much space for them.

I'm not sure what to do. I looked up old Adventure Time figures, and they're all terrible. Either pre-posed 2" figurines or horrendous, oddly scaled 5" figures. I could get Finn, Jake, and Marcy in 5" scale (Jazwares didn't make PB, who I'd want), but they're really bad. Uselessly articulated legs and rubber arms that can't hold a pose.

It seems like either the Mondo stuff, crochet figures from Etsy, or nothing. I can't believe these are my options in the Golden Age of Action Figures.

Passed on GITD Samhain to justify my purchase of BTAS Two-Face. Looks great, however the additional $65 tacked on for tax, tariff and shipping is a kick in the crotch. Mondo really should have gone all out and included a coin flip simulator in their checkout process to see whether you get free shipping for this figure. Big Bad Harv would have approved.

I wish they'd redo Batman like they did Wolverine. The magnetic Batman head for Clayface's head looks better than what's on the figure of this line's main character! Granted it's an angular looking design that a lot of toy companies don't always nail, but the Batman for this line's heads are just too geometric looking for me to want to buy him. Both he and Catwoman would benefit from some updates. I'd also probably buy the Joker if they redid the faces on him, I never found one I fully enjoyed, yet somehow DC Direct managed to make one for it's $35-ish Joker 2.0 from the "Adventures Continue".
