McFarlane DC Multiverse

Has anyone else received an email about McFarlane & DripShop? I read the email & checked out the website and all of the information is as clear as mud. I think you purchase a chance to open a mystery pack that can be a collectors edition, platinum or prototype. I can't tell if you have to accept it or if you can refuse with the buy back option. It seems interesting enough to try and get something that might be hard to get, but I don't care for the mystery aspect. Also, I can't tell if this is from DripShop or from some third party sellers. Kind of like if you buy something from amazon or a third party seller on amazon.

I have no idea what it is and after 30 seconds of reading about it I wasn't much more clear on it. I filed it mentally in the same circular filing cabinet as the NFTs.

Only interested in new annoucements/reveals. It might as well be an invitation to a White Elephant action figure gift exchange. At least Kith made it pretty obvious it was just a gimmick.

Got the same email as well as the special code for the Icon variant EQL. I’m not sure what the need is for DripShop. Or any of this stuff to be honest. I looked at what they had and didn’t see anything that I wanted/needed anyway.

I’ve been checking the MTS site every couple of days to see if there is any new stock or new deals. Pulled the trigger on Troika Batman over the weekend. Supposed to be delivered day after Christmas.

It’s tied to my Platinum account for a special EQL drawing. The link expired Friday. I didn’t use it. Got the original Icon and didn’t see the need for a straight up repaint. Although I guess I could’ve bought it for resale.

Surprised I didn’t get this link. I usually get emails about the drawings and win most of them. Wish I would’ve gotten it. I want the variant.

I got the email about the DripDrop nonsense and didn't even bother to read the entire thing. It wasn't announcing the Harley figure was on it's way, and it wasn't saying that more Wally Flash figures were available to order, so it meant nothing to me.

Do we know when to expect Harley? the Batmobile still has to come out right?

Pretty spectacular after fourteen months. 8.2 million units sold. I’d be interested to find out if that includes trades or not.

Pertinent because of the fact that no retail figures have been done or even rumored. I’m not talking about high end stuff, just the stuff you can hypothetically find in a big box store.

Do we think DC really wants to wait until January 2027 for Mattel to get these figures on shelves?

It may well be that McF has the option to do these figures, but simply doesn’t want to/have the ability to fund the one-and-done tooling.

We're what, about 15 months in to Absolute? How long do you think it takes to plan, design, get an approval and manufacture a figure? I'm going to guess that it's safely more than a year for a big company.

I know the Hasbro Marvel Legends team has made statements to this in the past that the stuff they're showing or soliciting now is stuff they worked on a very long time ago so it's hard for them to remember.

Now McF is a much smaller company than Hasbro so they may be more nimble, but I'm guessing that it's still a very significant lead time. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that the stuff that is getting announced was planned and designed around 2 years ago. I have no idea. I'm just speculating.

Absolute Wonder Woman and Superman both debuted over a year ago. Even if Batman was too complicated they definitely could have gotten the other two out with relative ease at this point even before the loss of the license became official

So far, it seems fairly simple. Green Lantern doesn’t exactly have a proper costume yet. Wonder Woman, Superman, and Flash are pretty straightforward superhero fare. Batman could go on a heavily modified DKR buck.Martian Manhunter isn’t exactly relevant at the moment.

Looking at characters without their own books yet, the Zatanna designs and artwork I’ve seen are pretty great. Hawkman is menacingly awesome. Joker is well inside Todd’s wheelhouse but would require lots of tooling and maybe be a deluxe figure. Bane would definitely have to be deluxe. Croc too.
