Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

Oh, he's a Chronicles figure. Looks cool, and I guess they didn't wanna go with dark skin this time around?

Fairly sure this is more meant as an homage to the fact that KG was the first exclusive figure for MOTUC. Which is a very fun and cool nod. This is also the 'basic/regular' version of the character. The African-coded version is very distinctly a Netflix/Kevin Smith thing so maybe they don't want to use that again if they're trying to be clear that this is more of a traditional line than being based on a specific piece of media.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Kevin Smith version of him somewhere again, though. That was a cool look and a pretty good Masterverse figure as well.

Seeing more pics from straight-on angles, I'm noticing he has a bit of a smirk, which I don't love. But the rest really looks stellar. If he feels as good as Scare Glow does, they might get me to buy the entire line all over again.
 
So the question is.... any Club members grabbing extras or do I need to sign up for their stupid membership?

It looks more like he’s had a stroke. Not something I wish upon anyone, even mythic castle lords.

It does look a little weird, but I think I like it.
I've gotten more into 'expressive' faces over the last couple of years, just compared to like 40 years of 90 percent of all action figures having resting bitchface or looking absolutely bored out of their minds. Sometimes the expressions look a little goofy, but I like that it adds some personality, at least.
For undoubtedly being an expensive 'premium' offering, though, he easily could have come with two heads. A second, serious head, with his hair down like the MOTUC figure would have been really cool and could have almost gotten me to want two.
 
Yeah, the hair is really throwing me off a bit. And maybe the lack of massive poofy fur. I like how the armor incorporates it, but it's definitely not as extravagant or regal as his traditional look. Still spectacular looking though, and if this and Scareglow is the angle they're skewing towards for this line in general, I am certainly pleased.
 
Ugh.
Just spent a tiny amount of time on social media and it’s quite clear that a “certain kind” of fan is VERY EXCITED about Chronicles King Grayskull’s skin tone, and that really bums me the fuck out.
“Put the other one on the ‘nope’ shelf with Idris Elba”. Jesus fucking Christ.
