Mattel DC Figures

Oh really? Well, I stand corrected, then. The Batman and Flash just looked more "deluxe" than the Joker ones. When see pretty pictures, Josh no read words.
They can't/won't be showing off the stuff meant for collectors this early in the year. Maybe we'll see something by SDCC, but even that could be iffy. So, everything we've seen so far has been part of the kids' line. You can tell, though, since none of the figures have more than 'kind of shit' articulation. No ankles. Nothing in the torso. Etc.

The Batman Who Laughs that seems to come with those faceplates (fantastic idea, and one I would've used over and over as a kid) is pretty close to his comic look, but has those odd stitches added. Passes enough for me, so I might pick up that one to test the line and because that gimmick is so good. But otherwise, none of the other Batman are accurate enough for this nitpicker who already owns way too many Batmen.

I like them so far, and I hope the do vary up their offerings, but I doubt it. If anything I can see shortly used or one off looks for the more popular characters to pop up, like longhair Superman, Pants Wonder Woman, or Shiny Batman, but I want folks like Ma Hunkle, Mr. Bones or Jimmy Olsen. I don't need them to be heavily articulated or come with a lot.

Wow, I'm such a dumb ass. I didn't realize those face plates were for the blue costume Batman, Flash and the Robin they haven't shown yet. That is great stuff for a kids line! I'm all in for the kids line and the collector line. I'm loving just what I see here.

My initial reaction is that it’s nice to see Mattel at least trying to give the customer more at a time when so many others are giving the customer less. Then again, most companies do put their best foot forward out of the gate. I remember being so impressed with the first wave of Black Series figures and then wondering what the hell happened when the next few waves hit.
