Masters of the Universe: Origins

But I'd love a NA Origins He-Man with the green blade.
In a perfect world, I'd love modern (Chronicles, at this point) remakes of cartoon, vintage toy, and vintage toy 'Thunder Punching' New Adventures He-Mans. Genuinely love all of them and they're all so different from each other.

I actually really like James Jean’s artwork and was pleasantly surprised to see it as an inspiration for designer He-Man and Skeletor figures. I’m sure they’ll charge an exorbitant amount for them, but I wouldn’t mind having them. I’m more interested in them than Laser He-Man, which I will be skipping unless it goes on sale.

I'm surprised how much I like those James Jean designs. I mean I'm always, always a sucker for anything that features Battle Cat and Panthor but those pop enough I was scrolling past a post about them... somewhere else, I forget which app, and immediately stopped like "what is THAT?" Don't like, $300 like them, but if they're reasonable price I might be sold on 'em.

Jesus, is it possible they'll actually cost that much?
I was just spitballing what they could upcharge that would totally put me off. I could see them charging like, 70 bucks each though just thinking how much they charge for a figure and the original price for the cats. But who knows.

Yet another toy reveal stream that could have been an email.

Embarrassing showing from the company that's on the cusp of having a huge movie hit theatres, if I'm being honest...

So, like, quick question for the room; Did the presence of Geek Dad Jay, Pixel Dan and Kyle Peterson move the needle for anyone? I understand that Matty is essentially buying ad time on their respective channels but I feel like it only added to the level of awkwardness. Poor Glatfelter had to pretend to be AMAZED by the rinky-dink fake-LEGO Grayskull. And honestly, who cares what Rufio thinks about any of this? 🤷‍♂️

For the record, I like all of these people well enough but...yeah...I was not "influenced" at all.

I think the only time I've ever been "influenced" by a youtuber has been when Robo got giddy over Monster Force. Collector personalties do nothing for me, myself, and I couldn't pick any of those guys out of a police lineup.

Yeah, no. I couldn't care less about what any of those guys think about basically anything. In fact, slapping them into official Mattel reveal stuff actively repulses me for a lot of reasons not really directly related to the guys themselves.

It annoyed me more than anything. I had to turn it off after the (I'm sorry) shitty MOTU reveal.

Just...show me the shit. I don't give two flying fucks about anything from Pixel Dan's personal collection. He is a shill, he is a cheerleader, him being there does fuckall for me, and same goes for Rufio pretending to know what's going on.

None of these people are particularly engaging or entertaining to me, unlike Robo or say, the Marvel Legends team who can keep my attention. So, just...andale. Let's roll. Get on with it. Stop talking. Less talky, more toy-y.

And unlike the Marvel teams, it was so God damned corporate and phony feeling, so forced--whereas Dwight and Dan love this shit and it shows.

Dang. They've got pages up for the James Jean pieces and they're $100 each. I won't be ordering them until/unless they go on clearance in that case.

I mean they are niche in a niche market but I guess Mattel wants to spend the money to get them to show up for the reveals. I think if they are going to bring in all these influencers it would have been better to be a small gathering focused on the reveals rather than some large group with only a couple people speaking. In the end I don't think it moved the needle for most people.

As for Robo I unsubscribed to him sometime after he parted ways with TheFwoosh. I like Robo's personality on screen, but I kind of got tired of the whole "six inch or nothing" attitude, and lack of livestreaming (I'm an avowed fan of livestreaming over recorded videos). It means he doesn't cover a bunch of stuff I am interested in and frankly the stuff he does cover that I am interested in is covered so quickly by so many that I don't really get much out of his videos anymore. Also does Veebs even do anything anymore outside of an interview with Brian Flynn once in a blue moon? It also isn't just him, I have unsubscribed from a lot of Toytubers in the past 6 months to where I am down to 5? that I still subscribe to now.

I don't care too much for the He-Man/Battle Cat look. However I really like the Skeletor/Panthor look, and the box art is fantastic. However after sleeping on it I am okay waiting to see if it goes on sale. If it doesn't and I miss it. oh well. Plus here in Canada they are charging $150Cdn which is $10-$12Cdn more than what the actual current exchange rate is which is the usual crap with Mattel.

I'm also surprised to a small degree that Laser Power He-Man didn't sell out. I thought of anything in recent memory that would sell out it would be him. A chance to get an Origins version of a super rare vintage figure that never saw the light of day in the US? For sure I thought it would sell out. I guess the market really has changed/softened. I don't think anything MC exclusive (Origins) has sold out quicky since???

I will be the broken record and say that maybe it would have sold faster if Mattel had shown any commitment at all to actually completing the original line (and in a timely fashion, and without drip-feeding them one at a time to fuck customers on shipping costs). Mattel has done everything they could possibly do to make this line fail.
