If only they weren't each individually so cool I had thought the same thing. Instead they kind of have young and brash, old and beat to hell, and the King of the Sea vibes going on together.
I keep buying the non-mustached versions of Duncan specifically to be generic troops for him, and I absolutely have Beast-Man Prime and his lackeys. It's funny that Mer-Man, specifically, has variations that don't feel like generics but rather good looks for him.I do this same thing that you're describing for Mer-Man with Beast-Man as well. Different figures as different additional members of that "species". Honestly the same thing with Man-at-Arms as palace guards. To some degree, I could someone could do the same with Buzz-Off, Stratos, etc.....
