Like anything it really depends on who's writing him. As I think he was a priest recently in the books, plus he's often shown going to confession, plus his mother was a nun whom he'd visit quite often. I think it has more to do with how heavy handed the writer wants to go with it at any given time. Even Nightcrawler gets that as he's had some pretty ruthless and eyebrow-raising moments in the comics in the last decade, and I'd argue he's traditionally more in tune with his faith as both his emotional support system and worldview, while Daredevil struggles against it at times, being a vigilante and all.
Murdock is moreso one of those "did I do more good than bad," Catholics a lot of the time, whereas I think Nightcrawler is more tapped into the metaphysical aspects of certain things being beyond his control, which is why he's happier overall than Matt.
