Marvel Legends Two-Packs

Got an email from Amazon tonight saying the Black Widow/Quicksilver 2-pack will be delivered April 25th.

Hasbro’s “fuck the release schedule” practice continues.
I got the same. What was the original date? I never remember.

I got the same as well.
Original date was May 4, same as a bajillion other concurrent Hasbro releases that I’ll bet will also start jumping up. I’ve got Lizard, some SW Maul figures, and a couple Classified things that all have that May 4 date.

Seen some folks campaigning for Morph's X-character cameos from X97 Season 1 and one of them was Quicksilver in his robin's egg blue uniform. I'm excited to get this pending one and would probably buy that one as well. I'm not a huge Quicksilver fan but his figures have been decent as of late. I really enjoyed the green one from Walmart. Hopefully we can get an AOA one and then I can be at peace with not needing any more QS.

Just got in Kitty and Colossus, and the figure heights don't really bother me. The Astonishing team is roughly in-scale with each other. They're just pretty much all a little on the tall side. Cyclops is just right for his listed height, Emma's probably right (considering her heels), and Beast looks comparatively right for how he was drawn during that era, even though his listed height is slightly shorter. Everyone else is a little on the tall side, but Wolverine is the shortest, followed by Kitty, Emma, Cyclops, Beast, and Colossus, in that order, which is how they were always drawn. They look great together.

Can't wait for Armor to round out the team, when the BAF is announced for the Psylocke wave. 😜

Colossus and Kitty arrived from Amazon today, I didn't even realize they had shipped.

I like this colossus a lot, and I can finally replace my Marvel Select version I've been using. The silver is really nice on this.

Glad to have the "updated" articulation on this one, but they're going to need to start adding a ball waist if this is going to be the setup moving forward. The shoulders are okay, not a great range though.

Kitty is fine...Better than the old one but nothing spectacular. Once again, we need ball waists. I want a Jada Toys range of motion.

Received Colossus / Kitty today. Both look great and I've glossed over whatever size issue there may be at the moment. There's a few characters like Wolverine, Cyclops, Colossus, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Storm, Psylocke and Rogue I find myself buying over and over with those first 5 listed taking up much of my "multi versions" group. Thankfully in DC it's mostly just Batman and the occasional variant on a villain.

Colossus looks great, very impressive just on first appearance. His forearms seem a little stubby but overall looks great. Would like a true 90s Jim Lee version and a Capcom tribute one as well. If they could do a 90s Shadowcat like from her Excalibur look like they did this Astonishing Kitty I'd be a lot happier than I was with the boxset for Excalibur.

I wish this Colossus had better movement though. We shouldn't be sacrificing articulation INTENTIONALLY just because we're getting a new sculpt. We already sacrificed the neck on Battle Damaged Spidey from them just "trying something new that didn't work out." Which I'm sorry but that's something you determine with your proof figures from the factory and send back to the drawing board, not release it and just say "whoops!"

If Hasbro continues to want my money, I don't want to be trading away generally understood necessities because they want to try something new while not blemishing the balance sheet.

I thought I was one of the only ones who wanted this look for Kitty but I really do! The blue/yellow with shoulder pads and the collar.

Got Kitty and Colossus today as well. I want to nitpick over the size, I want to nitpick about how I like the hair on the smiling face better but don't like using smiling faces in my display... but just posing and messing with them (and truly that's 99% of what I do with figures - it's all about how fun they are to pose for me more than how they look on the shelf), I really like both figures. Like I just can't find a complaint bad enough to complain about, just some things that could have been improved but weren't. Honestly, the only thing I want to gripe about is poor Lockheed is still on the same buck as he's always been! Give my boy and upgrade!

Also, though. The packaging. Whatever anyone's opinions on the Astonishing run, good, bad, or indifferent, goddammit Cassaday drew a beautiful fucking run. Just a breathtaking series on the art side, cinematic and elegant and rich and emotional. Just a quiet titan of the industry, gone too young, and it makes me rage how often we lose comic book legends before their time. The world was better for having him, the X-Men were better for having him render them in his own way, and I'm pretty goddamned pleased to have the team in Legends.

(I ended up buying a wired cape for Astonishing Emma now that Pete and Kitty are here. I I'm surgically removing the plastic cape so she can pose better.)

I somehow missed the news that Cassaday died! Dang.

Saw someone named Michael Turner the other day and made me realize how much I miss his art. I didn't keep up with Fathom toward the end, but some of that original art is still gorgeous and I'd still love someone to make a blue transparent Aspen figure, like she's made out of water. MAC's clear one never cut it.

Box* (apparently)
Yeah, I was mostly joking. As far as I'm aware, though, there's no confirmation of Box. We just have a a quote from Dwight or someone else at the Legends team that there's a BAF this year that will be a "team finisher". People have decided it's Box for this wave because Marrina's in the wave, and because Box (almost, kind of, maybe) finishes the Byrne Alpha Flight... but since he apparently doesn't, I'm just trolling. I really want Armor, and she does finish Astonishing X-Men.

Opened my second pack today and tried to show the difference in heights between my 97 Jubilee leg fix and the one from the box. It's hard to tell but it did help.

I’m debating whether or not I should order the Quicksilver/Black Widow pack from Amazon. It might arrive faster than BBTS but it’s $4 more.
