MAFEX Marvel Figures

Rogue looks good, better than before. Excited to add her to the team.

Also, when I watch his videos, I’m never expecting that Boston accent given the channel name.

Gets me every time, especially when he throws down the Japanese location names.

I recently ruined Captain Marvel for myself when I discovered Carol's from Boston. Now every time I read her in a book, I'm imagining her sounding like some sort of Kajiu Daddy/Matt Damon in The Departed kind of monstrosity.

Sounds like Mafex fundamentally misunderstands their consumers. The people buying CT figures are largely consumer for whom Mafex figures would be completely out of budget for, save for a figure or two.

There are still a ton of people who would prefer to buy the Mafex brand for multiple reasons but can't without paying a 50% to 500% premium on the aftermarket. Doing the reissues is smart, but how many to do at a time is certainly tough to figure out.

Do they not have any way to measure how fast their issues sell out? The ones that sell out really fast should get larger reissue runs, but it seems like they don't know this at all. They've reissued a popular figure like Superman Hush what, three or four times now? Clearly they should have done more on each reissue.

Are those people able to buy five reissues a month, though? They're really flooding the market with what are still $100 figures.

Which reissues have sat around for over 6 months? If none have then the answer is yes, they can buy the reissues just fine apparently.

The popular figures are fine to be evergreen items almost always in stock, i.e. Wolverines, Spider-Mans, Batmans, Supermans, etc.

That’s a good point, but will it last if they’re doing this every month for a few years. Also, what’s the impact on sales for new figures? This strategy is shifting at least some consumers from buying the newer Mafex monthly releases to the re-issues.

Nah, he’s been critical where warranted of late, and had some hilariously unlucky QC issues. That said, I can’t really imagine too many folks agreeing with him on this one.

If anyone does want this though, don’t sleep on it because they don’t reissue many Marvel movie figures. Once it’s gone, that’s probably it.

As far as I can tell he's sold out already on the Japanese sites, so if Medicom has any way to track sales I'm guessing this one will get a re-issue.

Might this be the most popular movie figure in the Mafex line? I can't think of another aside from perhaps final swing Spidey that's supposed to release within the next few months.

Oh wow BBTS is pre-sold out of Venom as well. I wouldn't have guessed that mostly because this figure looks so similar to the Figuarts figure. I also have that one and wasn't sure I wanted this one, but the demand convinced me to grab one at Ami Ami early this morning when he went in stock. Now he's sold out there and everywhere else I can find aside from Nerdzoic who still has him up for pre-order.

You misunderstand: they don't reissue Marvel movie stuff, full stop. The best you can hope for is maybe a renewal/remould way down the line. The only ones so far to get a second bite at the cherry were the red/black Spider-Man, which was fudged as it was in both Far From Home (original release) and No Way Home (re-release), and T'Challa, who's played by a dead man.

People have been hoping Endgame Cap and Infinity War Strange be re-issued for a while now but not a peep. It's been suggested that likeness rights generally prevent it.

Similar with the DC stuff, sure they've done new versions of the Justice League, and improved versions of TDKR Batman and Selina but never just reissued the original releases I don't think.
