MAFEX Marvel Figures

I don't think it impacts it at all since it was always an executive branch (presidential) policy that prevented tariffs on goods under $800 to begin with. Trump is the one who got rid of that policy so I can't imagine he'd suddenly reestablish it.

Also the previous tariff on Japan was 15%, and Trump immediately imposed a new 10% tariff on every country after the court eliminated all of his previous ones. So as far as I can tell our shipping costs from Japanese retailers are going to be almost exactly the same as they have been in recent months. I hope I'm overlooking something though and they suddenly go away, but I'm not expecting that to happen.

What could change things is if he gets sued over the new 10% tariffs. He's only supposed to do that in emergency situations...so what, exactly, is the emergency? There isn't one so my guess is he'll get sued over the new tariff, and I'll be surprised if he doesn't lose that case due to not being able to establish that there actually is an emergency.
It looks like IEEPA was actually the authority that was being cited to end/suspend the de minimis exemption immediately - they included de minimis in the new tariff executive order yesterday that they were continuing the suspension despite the ruling according to this article. It's not clear to me if they're just pretending the ruling just doesn't impact that part, or if they're citing a new/different authority to suspend it.

Either way, don't worry everyone - we still get to continue to pay higher prices!

Well it's the 23rd and I have nothing on Rogue, and Amazon Japan usually gets these things early if not on time.

On time being February 21st which Kaiju kept stating. I don't think Chinese New Year should be a factor if they were putting a date on this thing to be in the store at that point.

On time being February 21st which Kaiju kept stating.

That was the listed date. This time he didn't say anything about what the Medicom store employees said about any of the release dates implying that any of them could slip. Every figure he talked about during that video he kept repeating that the date he was giving was the listed date, and I don't remember him saying why he didn't have input from employees like he usually does during those monthly release videos.

I use AmiAmi for release date slips because they're the most proactive Japanese retailer I've seen with updating release months. They're still showing February for Rogue so I'm guessing they haven't heard anything about the date slipping yet. Medicom usually updates their product page to show new release months but Rogue still says September 2025 on their product page so I guess their employee who keeps those pages up to date sort of gave up on Rogue after all the delays.

Yeah, anytime he talks about the employees it almost sounds like his visits there are actively antagonistic when he's fishing for info.

Yep I've heard him discuss several times how the employees sometimes refuse to answer his questions but that it varies based upon how frequently dates are slipping. They're slipping so much these days that they may have flipped to refusing to comment on anything. I was expecting him to mention it during the last video, but him not doing that makes me wonder if he's starting to think that they permanently refuse to talk to him now. 😥

I saw somewhere on Reddit that someone said the date was really the 27th.

Robin was supposed to still make it out in February too right?

As I understand it, Rogue is this weekend. I'm waiting until confirmation before actually ordering though!

This month's reveals are kinda meh: 2099 Venom (who looks like garbage, I don't give a fuck if that's how he's supposed to look), Negative Zone Spidey (bah, do the Future Foundation one instead yo!), and Moff Gideon in full armour outta nowhere: eat shit, Bandai!

The MAFEX subreddit is furious. I'm with them. How many Spider-Man repaints is this on a seven-year-old body? What is this, Marvel Legends?

How about a Green Goblin? Doc Ock? Hulk? Doom?

Between the character selection, slow production process, and InArt/LPZZ tag-teaming the fuck out of them, I'm losing interest.

I agree this month's a bust but the grim truth is there ain't much in the way of alternatives: LPZZ are seemingly DC only, InArt seem to be on a similarly glacial production schedule to Medicom so if they do announce Marvel stuff at some point, you're still likely to be collecting your pension by the time it hits shelves, and Bandai's stuff is already looking pretty 'eh'.

It's weird how there's so few premium 1:12 Marvel options compared to DC.

I've never purchased a MAFEX figure before, but am actually considering Venom 2099. BBTS has a non-refundable pre-order fee and is $5 more than Nerdzoic. I've never purchased from Nerdzoic before, but seem to recall hearing that they charge up front for pre-orders. Is that true? I just don't want to pay upfront for a MAFEX Venom 2099 only to have Hasbro announce one before the MAFEX even comes out.

From their site:

Pre-orders are charged in full at checkout. No surprise payments sneaking up on you months later. It's a one and done check out process.
