Jada Toys Scooby Doo

I opened Shaggy today. This is my first Jada figure.

The cartoon proportions make for an odd toy. When fiddling around with him, he almost feels 5" scale. He's not, but I think the skinny body gives it that feeling.

Between the accessories, head sculpt, and articulation, he's more expressive than he should be. He's alone on my movie/TV shelf. I don't have any other Scooby or cartoon figures around, so he makes for a weird one-off display piece. He's kind of hanging out with a custom James Bond right now. That's a Scooby-Doo crossover I would've liked to have seen.

Jada clearly makes a good toy. I've heard folks mention the "smoothness" that their figures have. They seem to know what they do best. It makes sense that they've targeted cartoon licenses. Invincible, Scooby-Doo, the cereal mascots, and even Street Fighter, to a lesser degree, are all at home in this style.

I'm ready for Scooby to go up for pre-order already.

This is what I'm thinking of doing when I finally get Shaggy & Scooby. Have them sitting in the middle of my graveyard display, surrounded my Michael, Jason, Pennywise, Art, Freddy, Pinhead, etc.
Why would you do that to those poor cowardly boys. At least tell me you are going to give them some Scooby Snacks first.

Shaggy and Scooby can totally fit in with any horror themed display. I've taken the same approach with Hellboy too and it's part of the reason that I think some 1:12 Supernatural figures, even if it's just Sam/Dean, would be really fun.

Here's Shaggy vs a gigantic werewolf for example:

In hindsight though, I really wish he had a giant sandwich/baguette accessory that could have been used in place of the sword.

They are "blind box" items, but Minibrands has mini Subway subs and other food items that could work. They have a new sub line called "Mini minis" that scale much better than a lot of their usual food items (the scale among items can fluctuate WILDLY in the regular line).

Do you have a horror display? Put him there!
I don't, unfortunately. Given my love for the genre, a horror collection would take over my entire house.

I considered getting NECA's Thing figures to honor my favorite horror movie, but the fewer movie collectibles I have, the better. It's a slippery slope. I could fill up a shelf with figures of movie directors alone.
