Hasbro possibly doing Tron?

My guess is they're wanting to sort of do a massive test to see what scales would work. So they put the more universally popular ones at the smaller scale and the less popular ones at the more popular scale. If both do well it would indicate you can expand both lines. If only one does well you expand that line and drop the other.

Just a guess though. They could be throwing darts at boards for all I know.

I do think if you want a 1/12 lightcycle this Legacy line might be the only time to get one.

I just don't think there's actually that many people who are a) Tron fans, who are also b) action figure people, who are also c) willing to pay the current market price for these. I think the fandom being served here is a subset of a subset. Cool that we're getting 1/12 at all, and I might pick one up, maybe, but at the end of the day Tron is one good film's worth of stuff stretched across two films and one cartoon's worth of tech demos. Reviews for the new movie aren't great either and I'm not surprised, the trailers looked increasingly boring.

If nothing else, I think not making an orange lightcycle would be dumb, but this is probably all they’re doing.

As far as Ares goes, if it does well, they might do more. Reviews are all over the place, but fans are loving it for the most part. I didn’t love it, but I thought it was pretty damn good.

Are fans loving it? From what I'd heard so far it's largely unconnected to the most recent film and doesn't substantively pick up any of those plot threads. Are people really that hot for Jared Leto? Is it just the pretty visuals? I can't see much in the trailers that's inspiring me to go.

Everyone I’ve seen on Twitter is really digging it. I liked the visuals and thought most of the cast was really good, outside of a dumb comic relief sidekick who isn’t in the trailers. 🙄
I loved the villain.
It’s more connected to the first movie than anything else, but Legacy is mentioned.
Without saying too much, if people want to see Sam and Quorra again, they need to support this movie.

I will say the fight scenes far surpass Legacy’s, but that’s just me.

This sort of makes me think 2-second cameo in post credit scene or their images are shown on a computer terminal but they never actually show up. I don't think that's going to do it for me.

I'll probably catch it on streaming at some point.
 
My work buddy flashed his phone at me of the group pic and I thought I saw more o-ring retro trash and dismissed this as yet another HasLab that will fail to be my first... but now that I see they're TVC-engineering I think I'm in. Maaaaaaaaybe even for two sets.

At $20 each the figures are $100, which roughly tracks for modern retail. That leaves $160 split between two bikes and the USB display stand. I figure that would retail for about $40, yeah? That leaves the bikes at $60 each, which is definitely within ARW/boutique line pricing.

I recall paying $60 for the MediCom lightcycle boxsets some 20years back, and $60 for a better lightcycle + $20 for better figure now doesn't feel like a price-gouge to me. Honestly, this is the first HasLab that doesn't look like an outright rip-off of something that would, could, and should be cheaper at retail to me; and I think I gotta nut up and throw in.

Noticed this on the Haslab page - so a bit of a pilot for more highly detailed 1:18 lines? If so, I further suggest this needed to be more of a one-and-done set....

Probably a fair assessment of the retail cost. Given the detail on the paint apps for the figures, I think they could be like the Boba Fett's that come in at closer to $25 retail, with the bikes then $40 to $50. To me the base isn't a big selling point, it is just adding to the cost but not adding value.

It is also possible that pre-tariff they expected this to be closer to $200.

I think if they want this to fund they should consider adding a third lightcycle. It would require no new tooling or design work (other than a different color paint), so only adding the cost of materials and labor for a third one, it likely would not add too much in outlay, maybe $10 per package at most?
