Ghostbusters General Thread

I don’t know if this set is worth $100. I looked through those pics and the improvements are minimal. Seems like this set is for anyone who missed the original, but backed the hearse. I’m using Mezco One12 GBs with mine and they all fit really well. They’re even taller than the Hasbro quartet. If the price drops, maybe.

That's why I picked up the set. Didn't get them the first go round, and after seeing the comparison pics I am okay with that because I think the new versions are an improvement and slightly more media accurate. If I hadn't picked up the Haslab Ecto-mobile I wouldn't have bothered.

I don't bother with Mezco because I don't think they are worth the price in most cases. However I am not as picky a collector so that is why I am fine with ML in most cases over any of the imports (SHF, Mafex, etc.).

This set a Pulse exclusive?

I'll stick with the OGs on the Hasbro figures. There are nicer details on those new heads but the likenesses aren't much better, especially with the stern expressions. Man, I wish this line turned out better. I've got series one and the exclusive Tully, and wanted to see at least a wave for GB2 and maybe a new Rookie. Love that game.

Do we still know for sure that Hasbro is giving up the license? I need someone else to take another shot at movie GBs.

Yeah i think they are. I wish Neca, SH Figuarts or Mafex did movie Ghostbusters. We have never seen accurate likenesses and equipment in pretty much no GB figures except the Blitzway ones (which, btw, they were going to do 1/12 GBs, they showed them off years ago and never actually produced them).

Neca would do a great job with the suits and proton packs, and include everything they need, but maybe wouldn't pull off the likenesses (or maybe they would?). And of course they would be pretty stiff in articulation. SHF would certainly do some great poseable figures, probably with very accurate suits and proton packs, and maybe some great likenesses, or not. Just not a lot of paint. Mafex would go all out, I think, and make the best possible 1/12 GBs figures, at their ultra high price of course.

I really thought SHF would announce some back when the new movies came out, like they did with their Indiana Jones, but it never happened. So at this point, who knows? Maybe Inart or LPZZ grabs the license and knocks it out of the park with it. But they seem too concentrated on DC right now so I wouldn't count on it.

I could stomach Neca doing some. SHFiguarts "crotch" construction on a lot of its figures makes them look bad aesthetically in my opinion. Plus the overly short Cyclops from the Capcom-looking line didn't endear itself to me. I don't think I could see myself going InArt / LPZZ on these now that I have 3 different sets of Hasbro Busters, the Mattel ones and just finished paying for Ray to round out the Mondo animated ones. I'm not known for restraint on TMNT but Ghostbusters I have to draw the line with somewhere, and fortunately the Diamond Select animated Ghostbusters are too expensive for me to even consider going back looking for those.

Received my 4pk GB1 rooftop set. All look good. A bit stoic for my tastes, but the suits look more true to form. Egon and Ray I think benefit from better heads. Peter's is either/or based on your preference for his expressions. I would say Winston's is the least pleasant looking, as I don't remember him being dour looking at all. But they do look great and will compliment my Haslab Ecto 1 greatly. The box/presentation is nice, so I'll have to keep it even though I want to trash it for space-saving's sake.

I wish they'd put out a full terror dog sold separately so I wouldn't have to build a second one from BAF parts. Also we need Vigo, Janine and Jhanosz (however you spell Peter McNichol's character) before this series sunsets. Maybe the Scalleri Bros and a firehouse facade backdrop as well. I might even buy the suited courtroom busters from #2, dunno that I'd buy them in their street work disguises though.

Yeah, NECA is who I wish would get the GB license again. I still have their original ghosts and they still hold up quite well today (articulation being outdated as it is). But with the face printing and sculpting improvements, I would adore seeing how they handle the guys, not to mention some really accurate packs on the figures.

Very random, but I won a relatively cheap auction on eBay that supposedly contains 11 pieces from the Diamond Select Ghostbusters rooftop diorama. I’m now trying to figure out what the missing pieces are and which figures they come with.

It came with these pieces below.

I also bought a packaged taxi driver ghost, which I believe includes some additional pieces. So I think I need three figures, right? I see the screaming library ghost has the terror dog statues, so that seems like one of them.

I’ve been searching online to see if there’s a clear checklist and don’t see one.

Found this with some help from AI:

Corresponding video for the above:

Also, thiis site has the instructions sheet:

Also, one personal experience tip from me. The rooftop has holes on the side where you can use the DST stand to suspend Slimer as if he is flying. Don't use the DST stands for this. They are cheap plastic crap and will eventually break. Also, if you plan to use the DST figures in this display, be prepared to use stands. They don't have flat feet and can't stand on their own.

The dioramas in this line were amazing, but a lot of the figures didn't stand on their own and there was a lot of breakage with things like stands and proton streams.

Thanks! The beginning of that video was exactly what I need showing which figures come with which parts. Looks like I need Slimed Venkman, the Library Ghost, the Terror Dog, and one or two more I’ll have to figure out once I have the lot from eBay.

I’m actually planning on using the Hasbro figures with it, along with the HasLab Ecto-1, the Mattel Stay Puft, and the Diamond Select Firehouse facade — the latter of which I don’t have yet.

Good choice with the Hasbro figures. Sounds like it will be an awesome display when you are done.

For my rooftop display, I did use the DST figures for the most part, since I have the Mattel and Hasbro figure in a different display and I wanted all the figures in the diorama to scale relatively well to each other.

Below is a picture from 2021. Slimer is now suspended with fish wire from the pillar above Winston's head now, since the stand broke (leaving the peg embedded). Gozer and the Terror Dogs are NECA. I swapped the proton streams out with Hasbro versions, much nicer looking, though I had to feed in some stiff wires to keep them from sagging.
