General Marvel Legends

Not sure if it’s being discussed in another Marvel thread, but BBTS has finally canceled all outstanding preorders from Diamond Select, including all Marvel Select figures. Annihilus, War Machine, Archangel, Hobgoblin, DP&W Deadpool and Wolverine, will not see the light of day.
I'm really hoping the molds were made for Annihilus, since he went up for pre-order so long ago, and aliexpress gets their hands on it for bootlegs.

An interesting question is what will happen to the DST molds, designs, etc. I think ownership reverts to the license holder, which is how Hasbro got to use some of ToyBIz's molds during the switch.

Gorgon looks great, but I could definitely use him
10% smaller. He’ll just be looming in the back of the group.

I don't understand how they didn't start developing Gorgon as a combination of Hercules and Rintrah to try and claw back some of the cost of those parts. If I didn't want the set for Medusa I'd just try and customise a Gorgon from those two earlier figures and be happier with the scaling but oh well, maybe i'll like it more once I have this big bastard in hand.

Inhumans is a weird team for me, I seem to be collecting them but don't care for them other than vague amusement at the hodge-podge powers and designs and how daft their whole deal seems. Lockjaw's articulation even offends me so much I got two of him when discounted to see if I could add in articulation to spite the lack of creativity in how lacking in POA it is. I could very easily see myself making a custom smaller Gorgon and adapting the 2-pack figure into some generic Minotaur man instead. I'd even been toying with the idea of cutting into Medusa's hair and adding articulation, kind of like a "what if Revoltech had a go at making her..."

TBF, none of Rintrah could be used for Gorgon. Sure, they both have hooved feet, but Rintrah has fur sculpted over them, which doesn't work for Gorgon. The rest of the legs don't match up at all, so either way, all those parts required new sculpting.

It's sad about Diamond Select if for no other reason than to be missing that constant reminder to Hasbro about what's possible at essentially the same price point. Bigger scale, more paint, more accessories, WHILE paying a licensing fee.....for $2 more out of the customers' pockets. I'm guessing the suits at Hasbro are glad they're gone.

The fact that DST went out of business suggests something they were doing was in fact not profitable after all.

Although depending on how their business model worked, perhaps it wasn't actually possible and that's why we are where we are.

DST caught shrapnel from the Diamond Debacle. Whether they were profitable as a standalone company is unknown, although the scuttlebutt I head is that they were. It was really Diamond losing the major publisher exclusivity that broke the company.
