General Marvel Legends

In case my research seemed oddly specific, it’s because I really wanted to replicate what I managed to do with a no-boots Ka-Zar where the bare shins and feet of Daimon Hellstrom can be ported onto his legs in place of the boots and the mismatched calf cuts can be hidden by sticking the toothed forearm and calf bands from Fang onto him where the seams on his arms and legs are.

Daimon Hellstrom actually seems to be the decent upper torso swap for Basketball Gambit as well. My Quickkick GI Joe / Gambit custom looks alright, but you have to break apart the torso to get the hip pegs/torso pegs out, which I didn't want to do, so now my Quickkick/Basketball Gambit has floppy legs due to undersized hip pegs from Quickkick going in oversized hip ports on Gambit's basketball legs. The Reddit pics of the swap made it look so easy! I trimmed the gloved hand pegs down on BBall Gambit and they port into QuickKick's body fine, so for now I have "Gym Workout attire / Karate Gambit" until I figure out the proper method for fixing BBall Gambit as I'd like to have him. I half like leaving it as is since he was a Savate specialist in the comics.

Another one that as soon as I can figure out a suitable way to do it I will attempt - although I was thinking either comic Shang Chi (same body as Daimon but no chest emblem = less work) or Dr Mindbender’s torso which I think might be a little bigger than Quick-Kick although I never got him to compare since I already have about 7 of those comic Shang Chi’s.

As an unsolicited update to my previous post, since I know everybody is just dying to know more, I decided to get out my box of Sharpies and add a little color to my new T-shirt. I did my best to retain the sketch aesthetic with my pen strokes. It turned out pretty snazzy. Thanks for the feedback, @CTV and @d2bruce!

That is very impressive. I shudder to think of the mess that I would have made if I attempted this. Great job!

Given my recent experience with QuickKick I'd say just remember the hip peg ball/sockets vary between Marvel Legends and GI Joe so keep that in Mind(bender). As for Shang Chi, my only real concern is whether or not the skintone matches for Gambit's bandana'd head. Kitbashing can be fun but also quite frustrating with a bunch of "I wish I had thought of this before I did x,y,z."

This is not a reflection of your coloring skills but you may want to use a darker red or grey/black to segment out the hair some on Jean so she looks less Wayne Static from Static-X / troll doll-ish. Obviously the original sanskrit-style drawing didn't convey much.

Apropros of nothing, I've started a re-read through the MC2 A-Next series, and it reminded me how much I'd love those characters in figure form. I mean, we have Stinger and Scott Lang Ant-Man, and (I think?) Spider-Girl. But I'd love Thunderstrike II, Mainframe, J2, and American Dream. Such a fun bunch of series. I miss the MC2niverse.

You know I never got around to reading A-Next but was always interested in it. The Ant-Man / Stinger 2-pack got me to read the Nick Spencer Astonishing Ant-Man but I didn't go back to where that look started. Might have to give it a go.

I was pretty big into M2 during the 90s because at the time Spider-Girl was really the only comic acknowledging Ben Reilly's existence. Loved that costume too. Wouldn't mind a redo of Spider-Girl on one of modern super articulated female bodies.
