General Marvel Legends

Can we talk about the team revealing only ONE new character yesterday? Muse was the ONLY ONE who doesn't have a figure - okay, Throg counts, but come on - where have all the new characters gone?

Instead of knocking out hard-to-sell characters in two-packs, Hasbro decides to release yet another Widow, who sells just fine on her own and is actually ON STORE SHELVES RIGHT NOW, in a costume almost no fans have requested? I want that Quicksilver costume (though I always thought it was black and white - maybe a later version?). Why can't we have a Wanda and Pietro two-pack if we must? This pack is just not what the vast majority of customers have asked for, two characters we already have and offering nothing new except three nice headsculpts. Not even a cool running effect for the third release of this character.

But the entire SW reveals - no new characters. Max Thor is a re-do. Archangel a re-do. Onslaught is literally nothing new. I'm totally with Dwight on not gatekeeping characters and some looks from current retail but where are the new characters?

Plus, the value is definitely not there in most of these EMPTY packages. Lots of re-use (not new), not a lot of accessories, named and notable characters almost exclusively - these products feel like Hasbro's cost-savings efforts trying to keep a dying line alive, not the vibrant offerings we normally have. I'm wondering if it's partly that these were all greenlit when tariffs were making everything go haywire and Hasbro got really conservative?

It's a bummer.

I really like the character selection on the "Secret Wars" wave, but I was also struck by how incredibly reuse heavy it is. I'm a bit nervous the tooling allocation for the line is going to be diminished going forward, but I'll wait to judge until we see more of the year's offerings.

We do have Toyfaire incoming very shortly and there are supposed to be new reveals there. So perhaps they're saving those for the bigger fanfare of a show.

As for accessories and such, the line has always been very hit or miss there. And in these new reveals, Muse and Bullseye, though most of their stuff is reuse, they do come with a fair amount. The SW line, I think like the mini comic line, is a misfire in that they're giving the fans "new accessories" but it's accessories very few people would take over more hands/heads/gear. But of course once you've made the molds, you gotta get use out of them to cost everything. I think both those lines are suffering for a part decision the team just misjudged.

Amen!

I'd like it to be a requirement to get one previously unmade character per full wave. It's honestly all I really want anymore.

Muse was the only must have for me from yesterday's reveals, but to get him I have to buy a Bullseye that I don't care about to get him.

I'd really like to get to the point where I'm only buying one update / re-do / new costume for every 2 first in the line characters that I buy. That's my goal. Easier said than done with reveals like yesterday when there are several updates that I want, but I also know that they won't be the last (with maybe the exceptions of someone like Constrictor). This was true for the Marvel vs Capcom wave last year also. Gargantos/Shuma was the only new character but there were really good updates of Psylocke, Cap and Wolverine for example. I only need one version of any given character, but I do tend to want the "best."

We got ~30 new 616 comic characters in 2025 once it was all said and done. Plenty more new characters if you expand that to other universes. I'm hopeful and relatively optimistic we'll get at least that many new comic figures this year, though it does seem likely the latter half of the year will be MCU heavy.

For me personally, Falcon, Magik, and Constrictor are as good as new characters given that we don't have any decent figures representing their classic/iconic looks. There are a bunch of new characters on the rumor lists, so hopefully plenty more goodness to come.

I wonder how much those lenticular inserts cost. Heard a rumor that holograms weren't cost effective anymore. Both of which seem weird considering they were cost effective 40 years ago. 🤷‍♂️

A LOT of things were cost effective 4 decades ago that aren't anymore. It would not surprise me at all if lenticular stuff has gone up the way a lot of other production stuff has.

I don't think they'd be doing them if they were cost-prohibitive. They know they're not a figure-seller. It's likely they're cheaper than traditional accessories and that's why they do it. The fact that they're callbacks to the original line is how they get away with it.

You being a customizer back in the day on the FWOOSH know more about bodies and such so I will take you word on it. It just looks real similar to that body. The hand shapes, upper arm sculpt. the bald head without the hair on top because I took the helmet off one of mine and that head sculpt looks real similar. The big kicker the ML team not mentioning anything about being on a new body. Furthermore we don't need another oversize Thor. Thor should be in-scale with the new body Thor figures we have now.
I customized a ton back in the day, sculpted a lot and was particular to certain artists. I had to really study figures and learned a lot taking them apart. It's interesting reading or hearing other comments, no offense meant, because this figure is not remotely the one from 2012. Of course it looks the same because it's the same costume based on Oliver Coipel's work. People thought Maximum Deadpoon was from 2016 or didn't appreciate the fidelity to McFarlane on that figure. idk maybe it's just different priorities - I like art and unique toolings, others just like adding characters or focus only on head sculpts etc.

This Thor should be a size correction to the old one and I am thrilled to get him. Heimdall and Warriors Three would be nice too. It's important and exciting to me when they make significantly better versions of the icons.
