General Marvel Legends

Beamish, is it possible to slow these polls down? They are fun but there are so many on top of each other that I'm overwhelmed.

I may be the only one who feels this way, though.
I am right there with you. It's wishlist overload up in this mf.

I have to say that I don't have a problem with the wishlists and polls. Just the opposite, I like them. It lets us know where everyone's head is at as far as character selection. AND ... (This is the really important part) it let's Hasbro know what we want. Trust me, they're paying attention. AND the poll results give us ammunition to take with us to SDCC. "Y'know, Dwight and Dan, Mantis and Swordsman consistently finish at or near the top in our polls. When might we see figures?" AND the poll results make for some really cool trading cards that we can give to the team which they really like.

So I think the polls and wishlists are great. HOWEVER ... if it's going to be a problem, let me make a suggestion. Perhaps a sub-forum can be created here on the Marvel Toys board that they can be moved to. I personally don't like that idea because not everyone looks at sub-forums. They don't get as much traffic. Folks tend to visit the main board and that's it. I would like as many people to vote in these polls as possible.

Anyway, that's my two cents. I'll leave it up to the powers that be.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with the polls or wishlists themselves; I like them and appreciate their value. I just think there has been an overwhelming amount of them in too short a period of time. The first two pages are basically all wishlists and polls. I mean, if y'all are working on a serious Marvel Legends research program and have a fast-approaching deadline or something, I guess I could understand. But, as it stands, there are just too gd many to keep track of.

Here's the deal with the wish lists and polls:

The wish lists are every 2 weeks.
The polls are new.
The goal is to do a wish list, then 2 weeks later, do the corresponding poll for that same wish list.
So, I'm trying to play catch up.

I've been doing a poll every week since I started them.
Last week had 2 polls: the Cinematic poll and the Spidey poll.
The reason I did 2 polls in one week is that the Cinematic wish list thread only had a handful of participants so I figured the poll might only have a handful of participants as well. That's why I slipped in the Spidey poll as well.
That was the only week I planned on doing 2 polls.

Going forward until I get caught up:
1 wish list thread every 2 weeks.
1 poll every week.

I'm pretty close to being caught up.

Also, if a wish list doesn't get enough response, I won't do a poll.
As it stands right now, the Western poll is very iffy since it didn't get a great response, but time will tell.

Peeps, PLEASE cast your vote in the Western poll. Many of those characters have a very long history with Marvel. It was the Western, Sci-Fi and Teen Romance titles that kept Timely/Marvel afloat during the 1950's when superheroes fell out of favor. Otherwise, publisher Martin Goodman might have shut the whole comics division down. He almost did. Stan Lee had to lay off several staffers during this time. Think about if Goodman had done that. There would have been no FF, Spidey, Hulk, Thor, X-Men.

We like team building, right? Think about how cool Firebird would look on an Avengers West Coast shelf. Red Wolf is visually stunning and he teamed up with the Avengers. He'll go great with the classic Avengers. The Two-Gun Kid is one of Marvel's first masked adventurers and again he can go with the classic Avengers. Living Lightning was a West Coast Avenger. Wyatt Wingfoot can go with the Fantastic Four. We can start a new team with Texas Twister and Shooting Star: The Rangers. Vote for Diamond Back. What the hell, she was born in Texas. Vote for Jack of Hearts. He was once with She-Hulk and she used to work as a defense lawyer with the Two-Gun Kid. Yes, I know that's a stretch but dammit I'm desperate.

And ... this line needs a horse. Several horses. Not just for the cowboys, but all the other characters that ride. Moonstar, Valkyrie, Balder, Black Knight and so many others. There's a long list here.

I just don't want Phantom Rider and Jonah Hex* to die of loneliness on my newly created western shelf.

To everyone who's already voted, you have my sincere and heartfelt appreciation. Thank you.

*Yes, I know Jonah's a DC character. I don't care. At this point I ain't picky.

That horse's back would break...

Not if it was a demon horse.

Which, IIRC, it was.

I've read like 80 million comics over the course of 60 something years. It's hard to keep all the little details straight sometimes.

Anyway. Banner turned into the Hulk in New Mexico and there's the Hulk on a horse. You can vote for him. He's fair game.

Vote for THIS version of the Hulk:

He's the last one we need to complete the original Avengers.

Thank you, @Beamish, for the idea.

... once in a while, I'll be talking to a friend about a run/ character/ era, he'll ask me "what about this issue/ story?" and I will stare at him blankly and say "I read it in my freshmen algebra class. Ask me about Gerry Conway Spidey instead."

Obsessive fandom demands some degree of memory hole. I read a seventies Hulk the other day I know I've read before, but had no memory of.
