G.I. Joe Head Canon & Fanfic Filecards

I don't know how to link on my phone, but insert shot of Peter Venkeman pointing to his temple saying, "Until next time..."

Seriously though, the thought came to me looking at Firefly. That dude cannot work in an establishment.
Not to give too much away, but you're spot on about that - Firefly is an anarchist firebug, Bludd's a mercenary who will work for the highest bidder, Destro is the honorable villain, Baroness is smarter than all of them, Mindbender's literally a mad scientist, and most of the others are costumed circus freaks. Cobra Commander does have his army of Freds and the twins are lawyers/finance bros so they make sense but there really isn't a cabinet position for most of the villains who made Cobra work.

That's funny... the first time you did it with the Gung Ho bit, I spent several minutes trying to find a gif of him asking, "You can't see these, can you?!" Now... you bring up Venkman. I put to you once more, sir, what in the fuck?!!

Haw, absolutely not. I am super interested also in how someone like Mindbender manages to juggle a cabinet position with wearing shirts. And does he have to start wearing a corrective lens over both eyes?

I've been hinting that Cobra threw the 'noks out with the bathwater when "Lewis" was elected, but I know what Destro is up to for sure and was thinking he should be featured soon.
Right, there have been hints along the way for sure. Actually, I was making a list of the characters from 82-90 that you haven't done yet (because... that's what I do) that I am NOT going to send to you because that isn't what this is, but realized oh shit... Storm Shadow.

Also, did Duke sacrifice himself in some grand manner? "Duke stayed behind and sacrificed himself so that they rest of us could go on fighting and not have to put up with his insufferable bullshit any longer. Man I owe him big time for that."
I actually know what a lot of them are up to but I'm trying to figure out how to do their "cards" since there's a perfect standard format Hama used for the good guys but the Cobra folks were a little more freeform.
That's a good point. And really... like Buzzer is one thing since the Dreadnoks are discarded like you said, and I appreciate that the Joes are kiiiiiiiiinda on the other side now, fighting against the government, but the noks are sorta still on that side as well so seem to be sorta allies to them. But beyond Buzzer etc (since he's the only non-Joe you've done so far), I wonder if the Cobra files should take a different form altogether. I don't have an idea how they should be done yet, but I guess I'm referring more to the physical form they'd take that I'll be doing. The ones we've done so far are kinda government files that have been confiscated by Hawk and the like, with addendums added by team members, and in my head I kinda see them as secret communiques or something. But for Cobra, what does that look like? Are they files being kept by Cobra Commander like an enemies list, and friends that are likely gonna be enemies as well? Are the files on the Cobra people something Hawk etc are keeping like surveillance? Therefore the commentaries are written by the Joe member(s) who are watching that particular agent? And is thinking about it this hard stripping some of the fun from it?

Yeah, I know what Storm Shadow is up to but I don't know how to tell that story in a file card. He's going to be a fun one.

The Joes have a more obvious structure to mimic, kinda debating which ways to do the Cobras. Could be Cobra Commander's personal hit list, Hawk's comments on who can be turned... lots of ways to go with that.

Oh man, Duke is due. I have an idea of waht to do with him but I haven't locked it down yet.

Random character who popped up on my radar - was messing with the Grunt figure tonight. He's such a tabula rasa of a character he could go in a lot of directions.

Nice. Can't wait, but definitely find the right way.

Ooooo I like that. And maybe there isn't one way to do it, maybe multiple forms, depending on the character and what needs to be conveyed.

I hate to admit but you're right. For some reason, people like him.

That's a good point, but I like how you're trickling out the original 13 characters. Heh, very Classified style.

I'm honestly less taking a planned approach to the O13 and more hitting them as they inspire me. If I see a place in American society they'd belong, I write them up. It's easier when they have a THING they do, like Roadblock or Rock n Roll that helps place them in civilian society.

Speaking of which, Dial Tone needs a write up because we abasolutely know the stuff he'd be working on if he was in forced retirement. Dial Tone is more inspiring to me than Breaker because his old file card talks about how he's an electronics savant vs. Breaker who was just the comms guy in general.

Yeah, chasing the inspiration is working perfectly. Though I feel like any character we want you to do one for, we may have to come over and literally put that figure in your hand because it seems like inspiration is always creeping toward you.
