G.I. Joe Classified Series

I hear you and agree but "looks cool" is everything!
I mean yeah... but also no. Not that you need it explained because you get it, but I find the stuff I buy because 'looks cool' is always the first stuff I sell off when I need to trim down the collection. So I've really started asking myself why I buy so much 'looks cool, means nothing' that I KNOW I'll get rid of rather than just focusing on 'looks cool, lots of nostalgia' that I'm way more likely to keep. And, realistically, the nostalgia buys also just mean more to me on the shelf and I get a lot more joy from seeing them than the stuff I bought because it looked cool. For the most part, at least.

Yeah, that's absolutely a great point. Yeah, the stuff I get for fun is what I look at selling first over the stuff that has meaning or the "ah man, I always wanted that one" figures.

The "looks cool" vs "means nothing" bit hits. I find I'll spend hours just sort of scoping out this line in particular, but also MOTU, Star Wars, and sections of Marvel all the time, just spacing out and getting lost in memories. There's definitely more lines than I am happy about that go beyond "looks cool" into "means something" but I definitely have realized I loved and then kinda set aside my Savage Crucible figures pretty quickly but like, have I kept pulling Jada Street Fighter off the shelf and thinking about playing the game as a kid? Yep. But then there's stuff that is definitely "means something, is garbage," which is like, all of the Hasbro-made D&D figures. If those were well made I'd friggin adore them but they were like, McDonalds Happy Meal toy quality.

My current problem is I do the whole "does this spark joy" thing and it's the VERY BIG, VERY BUSY collections that do it for me. I could unload my McFarlane figures in the blink of an eye and have no feelings, but if I sold my first Pizza Spidey? I'd break my own stupid heart.

Man, BF2000 survived your childhood better than they did in the comics!
TOO SOON! :) But seriously, I think my brother just took home four of the BF 2000 from my mom's house last month for safe keeping. Those lil bastards really survived.

It's never too late to find new favorites! KonMarie is the real end goal, but that's easy for me to say, most of the stuff I have nostalgia for is the early 90s stuff that isn't popular. Whenever it's brought up, the threads are barraged with "hah, by then I was more interested in GIRLS than that neon crap! 😉😉😜"

Go ahead, make my day.

Absolutely never too late. I missed most of the Ninja Force era and man, the dudes we got from that era this month... top shelf.

So I received the Flint I ordered just to gamble on the exclusive card, plus two more Flints I forgot to cancel. Regular cards on all three. Gonna return them to Amazon, a couple of them at least. I had bought three previously, one to keep carded and two to open.

“I was more interested in girls”.
Pshaw!
I bought most of those 90s Joes WITH my OLDER THAN ME high school girlfriend, who was a very cool, very hot, nerdy stagehand techie who loved going on toy runs with me and thought all my action figures were awesome and would invite people into my room to see all the cool toys at high school theatre parties we threw. We also dressed in Ren Faire outfits or like sexy vampires at all the various dances and proms at our two schools. Spent senior prom night playing with Star Wars toys and watching bad horror movies. And also other things. 😉

Damn, and Mutt is on sale at Amazon....
I legitimately just went and bought one as soon as I saw this. The price is insane, worth it for the doggo and gear alone. I wish law and order would dip like that lol.

I also may use the body for extra Budo parts when I get around to buying him. But now that I just bought that set, I have to wait lol.

Guy picked up some figures last night and asked why I was unloading such cool things.

This was more of less what I told him, because it's how I also feel and can operate. I told him I really just judge if I truly love something by if I take it to my desk or pick it up off the shelf and mess with it. Even something nostalgic might miss the mark for me with sculpt, articulation, whatever. Like I'd kill for a Jem figure, but not if it's a Super 7 or something.

He did not relate at all, and seemed to take it personal I didn't care about Completing the MvC world.

But at least I broke even with his purchase and can now repeat the cycle. I love talking with collectors solely because everyone has such bespoke connections and logic for what we get.

I preordered Budo late, so my Amazon order said delivery by Oct 14. They shipped on the 6th, but the slowest way possible and my package is bouncing between Amazon distribution centers. It's trapped in Michigan. It's like a technicality, they're ignoring 2 day Prime because they said the 14th, so it's not actually running late or in transit too long.

Got my AWE Striker today... feeling a little overwhelmed with so much dropping at once! And knowing tomorrow is Ghost Viper day adds an edge to the whole thing. It's like when you're on vacation and you have plans on the last day, knowing full-well the following day is going to be a nightmare.

I preordered Budo immediately when he went up and mine still says "Arriving October 16th" so I don't think preorder day matters in this case.
