G.I. Joe Classified Series

Transformers x GI Joe is something Chris Cocks dreams about. Licensing crossover that's free? It would be stupid not to!

Except that most fans of either line don't want it because it makes zero sense. Every vehicle would need to be Haslab-sized and priced. $100 vehicles turn into $300 projects that don't look as good as a single-purpose vehicle.

GI JOE deserves standalone media. Transformers has had so many movies and Netflix shows recently.

Also, in a world where Transformers are a going concern, the Joes will obviously be primarily tasked with dealing with the giant robots, they become an alien invasion response team rather than a counter-terrorism unit. And those temu-Joes in those shitty Transformers movies are NOT what I want Joe to be, AT ALL.

I think y'all would be less concerned if you read the comics. Crossover is not exactly intense. That said, if it's just one show that they have to cram ALLLLLLLLL the characters into then it could be rough.

It's hard to scale Transformers and GI Joe together properly. I collect both, but would never consider mixing them.
Y'know, I think this is as much my meh vibes with it as not wanting to spend money on a franchise I've talked myself out of. I don't even like when my Marvel and DC don't scale together. Having Joes and Transformers I want to appear together on a shelf not scale would make my brain itch.

I definitely get them piggybacking on for money and visibility's sake, but man, I'd like to live in a world where they could sell an audience a good Joes story. And good MASK story. and not require them to merge. (Comics and crossovers are fine, it's time honored tradition. Just from a collector's view I would love if they could stand on their own).

Definitely not turning my nose up at figures based on the designs, and I'll probably watch (and hopefully like!) the cartoon. I'm more "meh" from a collector viewpoint than a media intake standpoint.

There already IS a Transformers X GI Joe toy line. It’s 1:18 scale Joe vehicles that transform into Autobots and Decepticons. I have them all and they’re fun, but at the expense of the robot mode, which is shoehorned onto an existing Joe vehicle. What’s crazy to me is how true to the Joe vehicle they are, even maintaining proportions of the original vehicles so original ARAH figures can fit in them. It’s a fun one off kind of line, but I don’t necessarily want to see actual true Transformers scaled to 1:18, let alone 1:12 Classified.

It's just such a waste that Hasbro won't make a more mature show out of GI Joe. That'd be great. A live-action show featuring a main character like Stalker, Mercer, or Outback for example. Maybe one of these characters is our sort of Reacher-style protag where actions speak louder than words. But I'd also love some sort of ensemble cast show heavy on fan service. I'm imagining an Aaron Sorkin-style show where all the Joes are busy doing Joe things, you can be like "oh look it's STEELER in the background!".

I never really liked seeing normal people being able to take down a Transformer. Transformers should be tougher than that. Like I enjoyed the Transformers 1 scene when Blackout single-handedly takes down an entire Army base.

G.I. Joe could be a FRANCHISE, that's for sure. I think these companies should always be looking at different ways to express their IPs. Disney has done better at that with stuff like Star Wars and Marvel getting different shows and movies with very different looks and approaches. Everyone should be doing that.

Make a spy thriller with Chuckles. Make a kids' cartoon with Barbeque and Roadblock running a kitchen. Make a serious action cartoon with the original cartoon cast. Make an action movie franchise. Do all of it at once. You fucking OWN the brand, Hasbro. ...Do stuff with it.

okay, but let me tell you about my fan dream of Hailee Steinfeld from Bumblebee becoming Lady Jaye or Cover Girl in a GI JOE/Transformers movie

We're basically living it, but without the good parts, which, yeah, is exactly why that show needs to happen NOW.

Or anything! Oh cool, we got Hailee Steinfeld in our franchise! Eh, one was good.

My 6 cops arrived from Empire Toy Shop today. Cracked them all open and geared them up with everything but the shields and large rifles.

I need to hit my storage unit tomorrow to find my bin of Joes, so I can see what doubles I have that might have heads that work. I'm pretty sure I grabbed TF Outback before regular Outback, so maybe his head. I grabbed an extra Law & Order when he was on sale at Target, so I also have that head I can try.
I also have an extra Netflix Luke Cage head that will fit with a little glue in the head socket, and I have Heavy Duty's heads from my BA Barracus custom that I can try, so it won't be all white cops.

I mean this with all You Need to Check It Out If Not.

Have you read the books? It has some shared origins and themes but they are very much standalone from the jump aside from Easter eggs, and I have friends who are not reading the franchises they dislike. One is even only reading Void Rivals, which has elements from both but is very much it's own thing and a unique take on the lore it does dive off.

The show is going to make the other chapters unavoidable, but some of the jumps I've seen about toys just don't really vibe.

Hell, most of the Classified line is the Energon Joe designs whether you knew it or not.
