G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

Huh. I was going to respond with a gif but did a search for 'masturbating gif' only to learn my safesearch is off.

Absent all the old talk of how they'd never do it, I could see them offering whichever version they perceive as less desirable between the brighter cartoon blue or that dark blue almost black uniform he had in the comics when he kicked the dog as an MTO or as part of a Haslab, and then releasing the more popular color scheme as a retro card a few years later to fan channel/online shops after they see how little smoke they get for releasing him.

Although now that I say it out loud, I could see them making a SDCC exclusive hooded version with a dog on a clear plastic flight stand if they're feeling cheeky.k

Yeah, I think that, IG Destro, and Snake Eyes V3 are the only ones left where I need them to feel like the collection is complete. Everyone else I would really like to have but not a big deal if they don't. Even Scarface, but he seems like such an easy repaint to do that I'll be really shocked if they never do.

They seem to be avoiding, maybe not intentionally but by default, comic book-only characters and that would be the only reason they haven't just stuck a Scar Face head in with a generic body yet. Of all the comics-only characters he'd be the easiest. (Maybe they'll reuse the parka body and give us arctic Kwinn soon.)

I wonder if that's really a thing, where they are avoiding those characters. Some of the post-Marvel characters suck but would make good figures, and the Marvel guys, come on... they're classics!

I've said a few times that the only way we get hooded CC is as an exclusive. That figure is never going onto retail pegs.

Maybe it's just around here, but I haven't even seen a Snake Eyes on a retail peg in five years.
Hard for me to say because the ONLY retail location that still stocks Joes here is EB. TRU doesn't get new Joes consistently anymore (and I'm not willing to pay their 25% markup even if they did). But my local EBs have definitely all had the polar bear set. And I got my v4 SE from EB when that wave came out.
I don't see him a LOT, but he's also not actually in a lot of waves, and he's popular enough that I assume he's always the first to go.

Yeah, I know it's regional, but I haven't seen damned near anything at my local Target other than McFarlane and Wrestling toys (I'm sure they have them and they just sell out and don't restock) so I just kind of treat all my Hasbro lines I collect as online only since if I only bought locally I'd never buy anything.

Actually before Christmas until now I have seen the SE V4 wave and the Viper/Dr. Mindbender Retro wave at local Walmarts. I was surprised to see them because it has been such a desert at regular retail. Seems like Major Bludd is the big mover of the wave as I have only seen him once while the rest I have seen a couple times.

As for TRU, they won't be a consideration much longer. They are completely gone from BC now and most provinces that still have them only have a couple left. Not to mention that article that came out a week or two ago about how TRU Canada owes millions in back rent to different landlords. Here in Ottawa there are two locations left and one is already doing closeout.

As much as I have nostalgia for TRU - they deserve to go under. When your WHOLE thing is 'we sell toys' and all of your toys are MARKEDLY more expensive than they are at any other store... what are you even doing? There's zero chance TRU upper management isn't aware of the price difference. They're banking on regular (stupid/poor) people not realizing it. Grandmas and parents that don't actively toy shop and have no idea what a McFarlane DC figure actually goes for.
They're a shit company and I'd close their doors myself if I could.

My job regularly has me driving all over the city for meetings and site visits, so I basically can stop into every Walmart in the city at least once a week or two, if I'm so inclined. I can't even tell you the last time I saw a G.I. Joe figure hanging on the pegs. And in the last month or two I don't think I've seen a single Star Wars Black Series figure or Marvel Legends figure either. It seems Walmarts either in Alberta, or just in the city here, have completely abandoned all 'collector' lines besides WWE. And even that selection is very sparse and probably pretty old at this point since it's been the same figures on the pegs for months.

EB here is pretty great. As I said above; if I had to rely on Walmart (no Targets up here), I'd probably never see another decent action figure ever again. Even with EB, I'd say probably 50-60% of my toys were purchased online. Maybe more.

Question for the chat: does anyone remember what the reason for the VAMP being so hard to get? Chatting with a friend in Europe who asked if I got one and I can't remember if it was understocked, if it was a Target fuckup, if they borked the timing of the release... I know back then half of the Classified stuff sold out in minutes, but I have a brain lock on the VAMP's "why" but I do remember it was crazy to try to get. The Ferret had a similar issue IIRC (just remembered I'm sitting on an extra that Pulse sent me as a replacement for a broken Sergeant Slaughter I should probably unload some day)

The VAMP was a Pulse exclusive and never saw the light of day anywhere else except for some damaged stock that showed up at BBTS last year(?). Also for whatever reason Hasbro has never bothered to rerelease the VAMP unlike a bunch of other stuff in Classified (and other lines).

What sucked for those that missed it was that it didn't sell out on Pulse until shortly before it was finally shipped out to customers. So if they had been watching back then (obviously not international buyers) they could have had a good chance to get it.
